Surgery is tomorrow - starting to PANIC!

Recommended Posts

Ok after waiting 6 months (b/c of my insurance) tomorrow is the big ay. I have been SO motivated and ready for this...until today. I'm really starting to worry and frankly feel bad for myself. I'm so fat that I need to surgically alter my body.

I never worried about anesthesia before, have had prior minor surgeries in the past, but now I'm starting to panic about that and the recovery.

Ugh!!! Freaking out here. Want the F#$@# surgery over with at this point.

Guys please tell me its worth and that I'll be ok.

Thanks for listening.

Believe me...it truly IS worth it, and you'll be just fine!! I can tell you from the experience I had as well as from those whom I've spoken to, the hospital staff are very comforting and supportive, the entire process is fully explained, and one of the best parts is you aren't going to remember any of the surgical process...before you know it, you'll be on your way to a better you! As long as you follow all instructions, you will truly be just fine!!

Surgery is scary...but "you've got this!"

Think about the benefits afterwards... the way it's done now is less tramatic to your body...

Take a deep breath and just do it! You won't regret it; best decision I ever made for ME!

Everyone's recover is different so just know this....I am so proud of having this surgery I would not change it for anything. You will do great. Be waiting here for you with the rest of us losers.

Completely normal. Everyone has some fear. The night before my surgery I didn't sleep, I was up all night long. So I know what you are going through. Luckily, once you are in the hospital you have people there that talk to you and understand what you are going through. It makes it easier. It will be over before you know it. Good Luck!

I'm four weeks out tomorrow. The waiting is so hard. Thinking about surgery for months. I felt something close to shame right before my surgery. It passed. Now every morning I wake up and smile because I feel so much lighter. It's like a new freedom. The first two weeks were challenging but worth it. It's natural to worry about the anesthesia but it'll be fine.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
