PamRN, New Bandster Alert!

Recommended Posts

Way to go, Pam! I'm happy for you. And since you've researched the band so thoroughly, I'm confident you will do well. Just don't try to roll out of bed too fast the first time!

Pam,

The wait is finally over! You'll be on "the other side" before you know it!

Have a safe trip, we'll be anxious to hear about how you're doing when you're up to it.

Everything will go fine!

I'm here, I'm home, and I'm doing ok...I think. I haven't been comfortable sitting in my desk chair yet, I won't be here long today. I was trying to get online again yesterday, and felt a stitch pop... at my port site. I'm praying to god that it wasn't my port popping loose. It hurt like hell!

I'm down 9 lbs, and aside from port site discomfort and careful movements getting up and down, I'd been feeling pretty good. I opted for the midband, and the surgeon said my stomach was small ?? so he put a 6 cc fill in. I've started on full liquids and a few soft foods, and haven't had any problem, though I sure know when I've had enough by that nice chest ache that starts to come on.

I did a lot of walking on discharge day and the next couple of days both in Tijuana and at the airports on the way home. So far I haven't had much gas pain, and have only needed the liquid tylenol twice, the second time yesterday after the searing pain of the stitch tearing free. My 4 sites are all clean and dry and looking well, with only minimal bruising at a couple of the sites.

The whole procedure went very well. The doc was impressive, though required an interpreter for everything, and I only saw him just prior to surgery, and again just prior to discharge. The office staff were way less professional looking than I expected, but did their job well, and the driver "Tony" was a real doll, he was the glue that made my whole trip work well. My mom just loved him. the hospital was beautiful to look at, and though they seemed somewhat less modern, they were very proficient.

At this point, I feel comfortable recommending them, and I'd do it again in a new york minute.

I'll post a more detailed journal of my experience on another day when I'm more comfortable in this chair!

Hi, I'm here every couple of days or so.

I was told no fill during surgery too, but apparently during the surgery, they found my stomach to be too small for the band, so gave me a 6cc fill to accomodate. Too bad the same couldn't be said for my a$$ at the time... anyway, I woke up with band filled and in place, and other than the usual pb from time to time, I have been lucky to have no serious complications, and no additional fill to date.

I chose the midband after doing a lot of research regarding the different types of bands and finding less slippage or erosion from the french midband. Those figures may have changed over the last year, I don't know.

My only regret with choosing the midband is the lack of aftercare in the states. If I need band intervention, it's back to Tijuana for me. I'm ok with that considering the price differences between here and there, but in an emergency, it could be a real problem.

Again, If the prices here had been more comparable, I'd have rather had it done here, just for aftercare access, but the whole experience for me so far has been great, and I'd do it again, including going to Mexico.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
