If I'm not able to complete my surgery before we move up to Washington, I'm going to need to find an excellent bariatric doctor in the Seattle area. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Might I recommend Dr Ross McMahan and his team at Swedish weight loss center (on capital hill). Excellent work and after care.

I went to Swedish hospital also, Dr Ross McMahan was my surgeon. I am only almost 3 months into this. They have a web site you can read about them.

Are you selfpay? There are two great bariatric centers as well, Puget Sound Bariatric (a division of Puget Sound Surgical Center) and North West Weight Loss Surgery (NWWLS).

They are both excellent and have all the certificates and awards, etc. And quite a bit less for selfpayers than going through a major hospital.

Are you selfpay?

No. I have Medicare. And actually going to be moving to the Ellensburg area, but Seattle is close and most family goes there for medical stuff.

Michaelson @ NWWLS

yes, he is a good doctor. I was scheduled to go with him until NWWLS was not able to successfully creating a contract with my insurance company UHC. They made me promises about getting the contract for months when I said enough of this and looked into another provider. I wanted to go with NWWLS because it is so much closer to where I live in Everett then Swedish in Seattle, but overall, I am happy how everything went with Swedish from preop, the surgery, to recovery, to post op care including monthly support meetings. Also, I had very low pulse (26 bpm) and low O2 (78%) following surgery so am glad I had an ICU available for a couple days. If I had gone with NWWLS, then, if the same thing were to happen, I would probably have to be transported to a hospital, which would have been an inconvenience all around.

And good to know that there are some options of there. Still hoping to have surgery with my current surgeon, however, she's only doing surgery until the first week of April before leaving in the middle of a month for a fellowship. It's not looking good, but I'm doing everything I can.

I had Dr. Nguyen, at Overlake Hospital. He was awesome, and has the best bed-side manner. He's patient, kind and warm. They do the most weight loss surgeries in the NW.

Thanks, everyone! Looks like I'll be able to have my surgery before the surgeon leaves. I'm scheduled for April 2!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
