Who's starting their new life on February 17th?

Pre-admission testing is complete. Surgery is on Monday at 12:30. Anyone else having surgery that day? I am slightly nervous. I'm just worried about discomfort and fatigue. Not at all concerned about food (which is a first)!! So, what are your worries, tips, thoughts. What will you eat for your last big meal on Sunday? Cheers to all!

I'm doing great on my preop diet. It's been surprisingly much better than I thought it'd be.

How about you?

Hi I have surgery on Wednesday- :) 2/19/2014- I started this process by seeing a bariatric physician at the hospital where I work- It has taken almost two months to get the surgery.

Hooray for us both!!!

I'm doing well on my pre-op. Lost 5 pounds so far. But I've been getting hungry around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. But I don't really have anything besides my shakes until my dinner. Are you guys in Protein Shakes? If so, who ones do you use? And I just got medical clearance from my primary care. Babysitters are all at up (I have 3 kids) for 2 days. So I'm set. Now I'm just anxious!

I am doing ok on my pre op diet as of Monday I was down 9 pounds hopefully I am down more!! I am on three Protein Shakes than I get a dinner with lean Protein a cup of veggies I/2cup of starch and like a low fat yogurt or string cheese. It's been ok I am just over the diet lol but it will be totally worth it in the end! I have been using the premier chocolate individual protein shakes, they are pretty good! Except I am sure I can taste them in my sleep lol ...

I've been doing my preop since last Wednesday and I was down 14 lbs as of this morning.

My surgeon has us drink two Protein shakes a day (from their office only), and we are to eat one meal a day of 4 oz of lean Protein and a 1/2 cup of nonstarchy vegetables. We are also allowed to have 2 servings each of broth (beef or chicken), sugar-free Jello, and sugar-free popsicles. It's been pretty easy to follow. We were told if we don't follow it, they might possibly not do the surgery on us. Cuz if he gets in there and our livers are too fatty, he'll pull out and close up. We have a real no-nonsense bariatric coordinator. I love her. I think we need someone to be blunt with us. At least I do. I quit smoking December 2nd, so I'm feeling pretty good between that and the new diet. I swear I have more energy. :)

I'm doing very well, thanks for asking. I stayed overnight in the hospital. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I had my last pain meds at 5am on Tuesday morning. I wasn't in too much pain, just pretty sore. So I was home by 3:30 on Tuesday and got to take a nap, which I needed desperately! Following my doctors orders, I've been on a clear liquid diet since then. I've been drinking 2 New Whey Protein Shots watered down, and then lots of Water. For dinner I have a little broth and maybe some tea after dinner. I shouldn't have, but I did weigh myself this morning and am down 6 pounds since Monday, which is really encouraging. I've gone for a few decent walks and just dealing with the soreness. How about you? How's it going so far? I want to hear everything!!

I was unbelievably sore and incredibly nauseous (dry heaving, etc.) for the first few days. They have us stay 2 days overnight, so I was released Wednesday and I was feeling human at that point.

I'm slowly getting better and better every day. I'm sore on my left side mostly. It's hard to get up and down, in and out of a car, in and out of bed, etc.

I'm on puréed Proteins three times a day now. So far Ivd had chicken "salad", tuna "salad", and eggs. The eggs were the hardest to get down because I didn't make them super creamy (gross!!).

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
