I agree, noone should put someone else down. I think it may have something to do with how I or you felt about her before. I am not personally a fan of hers, so I suppose I look at her and try to find fault, but yes it is life saving for so many...

I wish celebs that do have it wouldn't keep it a secret though esp when it seems obvious (like with the big head or whatever). I feel that when they keep it secret it does give it this stigma that it isn't as good as a diet or whatever and I think that does hurt morbidly obese people who look up to those people and might not hear about it other places. I agree there is privacy but then there is a public life... and its pretty hard to pretend you didn't lose 100 pounds. So people wonder how. Desperate people wonder how. And if its a big secret it becomes one of those 'bad' celeb things like rehab, I think.

IMO: Celebs have pressure on them one way or the other and have to do right by themselves. Just think if you were in their shoes and they had WLS. Then someone somewhere would go: Well Madam X had this surgery so my Mommy did it too and died from it. It is all Madam X's fault, Lets sue!!!

Heck, bands have been sued for their lyrics. People are crazy and maybe she did not want to be responsible for "making" anyone do the same thing she did.

I also think she looks awesome. And I dont think her personality changed. I think she probably just got a little more back bone and does not want to put up with peoples crap any more. I know being over weight for so long I have aways put up with so much crap from other people. I have noticed now that I am feeling better about myself I stick up for myself a lot more. I am very happy for her and I dont think the View is the same without her.

:phanvan I think she looks great. She lost a whole person. Of course she is going to look different. We ( people on this site) she be supportive. This is how people will talk about us once we lose all our weight. Just think about it.

read my mind.

I agree with the whole privacy thing but she wrote a book and said it was a tell all about her lovelife, weightloss and general life. Then she never mentioned WLS in the book. That is not a tellall, that was a shitty way to sell her books. She gave many women hope that they could do it too, and she would tell them how in her book. That is my problem with her. That and she thinks she is the hottest woman in the world now, and she brags about all the men that want her. To me that just makes her look desperate. ~Mandy

Sorry, I don't think she looks great at all. I think she looks gaunt and tired. And I'm no longer a fan of hers (I used to really respect her on Court TV and I liked the fact that she was a woman who was so well-spoken and such a dynamic personality) because of how she tried to deceive folks. If you are having bariatric surgery that is going to cause you to lose so fast like the RNY, and you are in the public eye, you have to know that your life is no longer private. Just own up to the surgery and be done with it, move on. She dragged it out forever dodging the question like kids in a dodgeball game. To write a book and never mention it, left a sour taste in my mouth.

But I'm glad she was able to lose the weight and that she is healthy and hopefully happy. It's a great accomplishment!

I also had a problem with the way she handled the wedding. She sold out to get everything for free. My hubby says that he believes she denied havng surgery because they made her pay for it. If the surgeon would have done it for free she would have been the poster child for his practice. That sounds about right to me. ~Mandy

I think she was just excited about her wedding like most of us are. And I would think that most people in show business would get free things. I probably would have taken things if they were offered to me to. I think that sometimes people will just find anything to pick someone apart. Just my opinion though.

hi

i liked Star until she turned her wedding into a circus...asking for gifts, free things. that was a big turn off for me.

i also think she looks too gaunt now...i think sometimes when they lose too fast with those other surgeries...they dont look so healthy.

lap banders look healthier to me.

altho' when al roker first got his surgery he didnt look well and now i think he looks great

anyway....i think this forum is for us to give opinions. even if it isnt "positive" as someone thinks it should be...

just my opinion.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
