Hello Everyone !

I was trying to get my WLS about 2 years ago and was turned down by my insurance. So, I just kind of gave up. I started a new job this past August and am now on a new insurance which requires employees to get a check up and cholesterol check every year ( unless you want to pay more for your insurance next year) . So I went to my family doctor and did all the stuff I needed to. This is the kicker ... my bariatric surgeon's office is on the same network and system that my family doctor is. So I get home that afternoon and the bariatric office calls and says Hey! We see you're on this new insurance and your bmi is over what they want. I can set an appointment for you to meet with the doctor again if you'd like. And since you already completed a 6 month diet and have the psychological evaluation you should be able to meet with the doctor and the nutritionist again and then we can schedule your surgery! I honestly about fell over but I am SUPER excited. Nervous but SUPER excited. And a little anxious... but SUPER excited

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
