Another Fill after 3 weeks?

Recommended Posts

Hi all....i need your advice :) i got my first fill 3 weeks ago. It helped with Portion Control at the beginning, but i feel like my portions are getting bigger and im craving more between meals. Wondering if my doctor will administer another fill now or do I have to wait another 3 weeks? They said after my appointment to come back around 6 weeks for my next one. Im losing, but very slowly. Im fine with that, i just really want restriction improved so i dont gain ;( Thoughts?

Everyone is different but for me it has taken 5 fills (mostly every 4 weeks) to get to green and I had to insist 2 days after my 4th that I felt no different before he gave me the proper fill to really get me there. If your doctor is conservative like mine and it takes you a few fills to get to green expect it to take a few months before you really notice your band holding up it's end of the deal.

Until then, you will continue to feel like you are dieting and must do most the work... This is known as "Bandsters Hell".

However, it doesn't last forever and you will get there! I was beginning to believe I would be the one who failed but now I know I just needed to be patient.

It never hurts to call and ask your doctor but this is also a time for you to get used to the new restriction and learn what you can and can't eat at this point without "renting your meals" lol

Best advise I could give is wait it out this time...you will get more familiar with your body with each fill and will know when you are ready for another. Ask your doctor at your next visit if you could schedule at 4 weeks instead of 6

I am at fill # 5 as well and paying close attention to where I am hungerwise as well as size of the "meal" and how long until I'm hungry again. My surgeon is going for a tennis ball sized portion and not hungry again for 4-5 hours. I'm doing pretty well. Not too hungry and so I think I may be approaching green zone territory or perhaps already there. I don't want to be too tight. At first we did fills pretty frequently (nothing in my band at placement) -- I believe this surgeon is of the small frequent fills school of thought. I have no idea how much I have in my band and I know it doesn't really matter. My plan is to ride this out as long as possible and only go back for another fill if I'm feeling real hunger too frequently or too soon. Good luck -- it's hard sorting this out, isn't it? Best wishes!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
