1 month Post-Op Appt tomorrow & Complications

Recommended Posts

Moor row is my 1 month Post-Op & I'm pretty certain I'm going to have my Gallbladder taken out. At about 2 1/2 weeks, I started having severe nausea & vomiting. Due to those symptoms, I've been unable to take ANY Vitamins or Protein intake. I'm extremely disappointed right now. As a previous nurse for 19 years, I know that the #1 cause of Gallstones is rapid weight loss. I will be so glad to get back to normal & get my weight loss back on track! Has anyone else had these complications? Thanks, Alicha

Hi Alicha,

No, I haven't had a gallbladder issue (yet) but I just wanted to say I feel for you! As a nurse, you know removal tends to be pretty easy, but it's yet ANOTHER surgery and ANOTHER period of recovery. Take it 1 day at a time and see what your doc says. I hope you start feeling better really soon!

@Teachamy Hi & thanks so much for the reply & words of encouragement! My appt is 11:15 tomorrow & I will post to you what I find out. Please excuse my mess ups on here, as this is only my 2nd posting & I'm still very unfamiliar with it.

Well I had my appointment today & according to the Radiologist Report "my GB is so contracted & inflamed they couldn't even see if I had ay stones." So, needless to say, I have GB Surgery Monday. I will be so happy to get this thing out & get back on my Weightloss Regimen!

Alicha,

I am 7 months post op and I am down 100 pounds. I started having a small pain ( like a 2 or 3) right under my right rib. I had feared it might be my gallbladder because I had heard so much about almost 30% of WLS patients may have issues. I called my doctor to be safe and I went in and they did ultrasound. I have very large gallstones so they are taking out my GB in two weeks. I have to say I was a little depressed having to go through surgery again. I am starting to feel better mentally now so I guess it is best to be safe than sorry I keep telling myself. I wish you a very speedy recovery and hope you are feeling better.

Hi! I had my Gallbladder Surgery on Monday as outpatient & was home around 1:30! I felt a complete & total difference when I woke up! Don't get me wrong, as I'm so very sore I can't stand straight! The Gastric Sleeve Surgery was somewhat "easier" than this. Knowing where the Gallbladder lies & what that have to do to get to it, I can say I completely understand why! The Dr came out & spoke with my Husband, kids & Parents & told them I was completely full of some of the biggest she had ever seen! She said it was all inflamed, contracted & very very irritated. She also checked my Sleeve & did an Endoscopy to make sure all was well! I'm so Thankful to have that thing out of me! So, if you're in pain & discomfort, I would suggest you getting that little demon out! I wish you the best of luck! Keep me posted!

Glad to hear all went well and your back home. Was 1:30 the next day so you stayed over night or went home same day? I assume over night but have heard others in and out same day.

Gosh I hope it is not harder than the sleeve surgery for me. I had a lot of pain and was on pain meds for 2 weeks post sleeve. I did have a hiatal hernia a very large one so I thoughyt maybe that is why. I did not have any other issue no feeling sick or anything just stomach pain from all the tugging. So I am praying it is a little easier for me. Anyway glad to hear you are doing well. I go in on the 18th for pre op and surgery on the 20th. I had put it off due to having another large deductible to have to pay again since it is the beginning of a new year. So counting the days.

By the way did you have to do any liquid diet prior or just our normal diet. I will talk to my doc just was wondering what yours said.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
