Started my journey in July, I was hoping to be banded in Nov... My insurance was not on board. After several hoops and months I finally have a date for Feb 11. Although exited I am anxious about the pre op & post op liquid diet. I've been on many diets and feel I can restrict myself for awhile. But 4 weeks of Clear Liquids only- I'm not sure I can handle. Any advice to help relive this anxiety.

I am 8 days post op all I can say is take it one day at a time that is how I did pre op and doing post op. Focus on that day only. Keep me posted on your progress.

Congrats on your date! Is your doctor telling you to be on clear liquids only? Pre-op or post op?

One day at a time..

When I've to face something difficult, I think I have to arrive at bedtime only.

I'm powerless over past and future.

Only for today I can manage.

Take it one day at a time and don't think about the entire period as one big chunk. To do so is intimidating and discouraging, so be gentle with yourself and don't "go over the edge" if you have a slip up here and there. Think about the end result and it will help you get through the preop...this is the time you're paying your dues! Good luck and stay on the boards for encouragement and motivation.

That was beautiful and fitting. I'm going to keep this in mind for myself, thank you for sharing such an awesome quote!

I can't imagine you are on clear liquids for the pre-op phase until closer to your date....Your going to still need some nutrition to keep you moving and satisfied especially before surgery.

Taking it one day at a time is great advice. It's doable many of us here can attest to that! You can do it! Just follow your doctor and nutritionists advice and you will do great!

Thanks for all the encouragement

I'm on liquids for 5 days pre op, then CLEAR liquids only for the first month. One day at a time. Will be my new mantra. I do have a Protein supplement for nutrition. I know it is a matter of brain training since it was my brain not stomach that wants the food. I like the perspective of only having to make it to bed time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
