I posted this on other forums here. But, here I go again. I'm so frustrated right now that I feel like I am about to lose it!. I've completed ALL of my requirements for my insurance approval except today was supposed to be my final weigh-in at PCP. However, I got a call yesterday evening at 4:57 pm informing me that my appointment had been cancelled, my PCP had moved to Miami, FL & will not be returning. She's sending all of her patients to another doctor who won't be taking appointments until February 3, 2014. Even then, she will schedule us as new patients & can't see me until March. Well, the problem with that is my weigh-ins must be consecutive & March appt will skip February weigh-in. To make matters worse, my regular PCP never sent my recommendation letter to my surgeon! So, to clarify...all I had left was my letter & last weigh-in in order to submit to insurance. What do I do now? I don't want to have to start all over again!!!! I'm in tears. Please, can someone give me advice as to what to do next?

If you have another doctor in your local area, call and see if they can get you in asap, explain the situation. You will want to have a copy of the medical records to take with you so that the new doctor sees that you have already done everything that was requested. That was really messed up of the PCP to do that without any kind of notice or anything to the clients. I will keep my fingers crossed for you and keep us updated. Beleive that everything happens for a reason and know that just maybe that PCP was not the right one for you. ;)

I would call back the doctor and explain your situation and "INSIST" on a appt. within your time frame. You may have to wait a while in the waiting room but it will be worth it. Many physicians keep time open for emergencies etc. so I would be VERY persistent !!!!

I agree totally with bbdoodle and would also suggest considering contacting your insurance company. Explain the situation to them and ask that they enter the information into your file so that others will be able to see it down the line. The letter from the PCP is usually what is known as a "Letter of Medical Necessity". I would be surprised if your new doctor would be hesitant to write the letter given how far along you are in the process. If for some reason that is not the case, might be a good idea to find another PCP. We can all certainly appreciate your frustration but there's a very good chance this will just be a bump in the road. Be assertive and stay positive!

Thanks everyone for the responses! I did exactly what BBdoodle said. I did have to wait a couple of hours but I got my letter & weigh-in! Patient Coordinator said she just received it & will submit it to insurance 1st thing Monday morning. Yes! Yes! Yes! Now I wait for approval.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
