Not sure which BC to use after surgery?

Recommended Posts

I was on Yaz 2 years ago, but stopped it.

I wanted to do the implant in the arm after surgery, but everyone is telling me not to do it.

And people at work say no don't get on BC, it will make you gain weight.

I have PCOS. I do want kids but want to be able to wait until I'm at goal weight for awhile.

Which BC do ya'll like or reccomend?

I have Mirena and love it. I've been losing very consistently since my surgery Dec. 2013 and have had the Mirena for 3.5 years.

I have a friend who got one w/o a kiddo, though you may want to talk w/ your doctor just to make sure that it's OK for you to do that, too.

I am the same. Mirena and have had it for 3 years. I haven't had children and was just fine to have it placed. It's great bc it makes your periods light and might even make then go away. I haven't had a period in over a year!!

I haven't had surgery yet. But I also have PSOS.

I had the implant (Implanon) and I loved it. It will be time to get it removed in August this year. I don't need another one because I got Essure (pemanent bc) in September but I liked not having TOM ever. So I may end up getting it again anyway because I like it so much!

I use the NuvaRing and I love it....I started it like 2 months before I had surgery. Now every month my period is like clockwork. I start the first tuesday of the month around 12pm and I finish on the first friday around 6pm. Its amazing and I recommend it.

I've used the Depo shot for over two years now. I don't want children at all. I also don't like having to have a period, and the Depo thins the uterus lining, so I don't have to have a period. The only real drawback, is that it messes with bone density. However, when you come off it, bone density returns to normal.

I've been on the pill my entire adult life and it's never caused me to gain weight. You can't just believe what the masses say. Talk to your doctor.

nuvaring! it's wonderful! three weeks in, one week out. it totally beats the crazy hormone pills (you actually don't get the weird mood swings because it's not digested like the pill) and you don't need to remember to take it every day!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
