Well, welcome! Please feel free to browse all the different sections on this forum. They are full of lots of wisdom and encouragement! Any specific questions you have? This is definitely the place to ask.

Where are you in your journey? Just beginning to gather info? Got a doc yet? Where do you live?

Hi Dana,

This is not a chat board but a message forum. By reading old messages and threads you can learn a lot, but if you have questions or comments please feel free to post a new thread whenever it occurs to you to do so. We're all happy to share whatever experiences we can.

Welcome!!

Dana, do you know that your insurance company covers the Lapband procedure for sure? You can check w/ your benefits coordinator. If so, then there's no guarantee how long everything takes. It will probably be longer than you want to wait, so don't be surprised. But then again, you can always get lucky. Good luck!:D

Welcome Dana and wishing you the best in your journey to be banded. I think everyone has a different waiting period depending on their insurance requirements and how quickly the surgeopn is able to schedule your appointments. I started the process the 1st of April and was banded June 30th. Good luck with everything and you'll find everyone is very helpful and happy to answer any questions that may pop up down the road. :)

Hi Dana! Welcome to the board!!! I too am waiting for insurance approval. I just hate waiting, time just seems to drag. But, all this waiting has given me the time I needed to do a lot of research, and get to know all these wonderful people on this board. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
