Try a chocolate Protein Shake and see if that will help curb the craving. That is what worked for me. If you are not on a liquid diet you can try a Protein Bar as well. This way you will be getting your Protein in as well as curb that craving.

Your body is already detoxing from refined sugar...What is chocolate except, cocoa Beans, oil and sugar...So it is going through withdrawal...

Hold on it will get better after a few more days...K

Okay! As a chocoholic on the same pre op diet I have great news. Are you taking the Calcium tablets yet? I found chewables that taste just like chocolate. No sugar! No nothing! It blew my mind. Because I was expecting that atrocious Vitamin taste, but nope! I'll have to take a picture for you. It's one a day and I take it in the morning to get rid of need for sweets. I'm on day one of the pre Op. And I haven't thought once about a sweet. Let me know if you're interested! I'm at work currently but I have no problems following up with you when I'm off work.

Yes please!!! Because I'm starting day 7 today and every day I've dreamed of chocolate lol and the shake isn't curbing it. Good luck on your diet that means you are only 6 days behind me for surgery :)

the sugar free double chocolate pudding. mmmmmm Also freeze a chocolate Protein shake in tupper ware popsicle molds for a treat at night. Use 1-2% milk with shake mix so there's more of a good taste after it;s frozen.

Best wishes

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
