weight loss/clothes size estimates 3 months & 7 months post op.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I know you guys can't really answer this question but I'm a little worried. I'm getting banded in Thursday, married in April when ill be 3 months post op and im maid of honour at my best friends wedding in august 7 months post op.

Obviously dressed are bought and paid for. I'm wondering if there's a guide to what to expect post op as I'm concerned about getting the dresses altered, especailly my wedding dress. Both dresses are a size 28. Any tips or advice would be fab. Thank you. Xx

I was banded on 9/13/13 - in 4 months I have almost lost 50 pounds. I used to wear a size 22 and now I wear a size 16. Some people have lost more weight or less weight than me - but almost everyone has lost a good amount of weight in 3 months. So- you are going to have to get your dresses altered for sure! Especially the one 7 months from now. It's probably going to have to be altered a lot.

Wish you luck - it's nice to have a dress altered when you don't fit in it because it's too SMALL! :)

So happy for you! You are going to be beautiful on your wedding day no matter what you lose so please don't put yourself under too much stress. Post-op the loss can go a little slowly until you get the right adjustment through fills. But the weight will come off and you'll be so happy. What a gift you are giving yourself. We will be thinking of you Thursday!

Did you buy the dress off the rack or is there someone available to do alterations? If the first, find someone! :) If the second, I would talk to the person who will be altering your dress and explain what is going on, then ask that person how much time they will need to fit you and make any necessary changes. You may or may not choose to tell them you had surgery, but you certainly can tell them that you are losing weight and you expect to lose more by the wedding.

Then just meet with them on the appointed deadline, and see what needs to be changed at that time. In the meantime, you can put it out of your head and concentrate on something else. :)

I was banded last Feb and was a maid of honor in my best friends wedding this past Nov and had the same worries. Pre-op when we first tried on the dresses I was in a 20. Knowing I was going to be loosing weight I waited as long as possible to order the dress. I ended up with a size 14 and all worked out great. It could have been taken in a little, but for some reason when I took it for alterations they only took some off the length. However, when I ordered the dress I was told it could be taken up or down 2 sizes should it need it. I didn't use the bridal shop for alterations, but a private place since they allowed me to wait until 2 wks before the wedding.

I guess I'd book some time with the alteration lady the week before the weddings and not jump the gun with altering too soon. Good luck and wishing you to be lovely in the photographs!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
