Is it normal to feel so fatigued during the pre-op diet? I'm on the 2 shakes a day plus protein/veggie supper diet. My energy is so low it's making my physical job difficult. I'm on day 6. I had a headache the first 5 days and that has gone away now thankfully but my energy is very low.

Also I'm finding the weight loss kind of bizarre. Makes me think my scale is broken even though it's a brand new digital scale. I was steady at 5 pounds lost for a few days and then all of the sudden 13 pounds total seemingly overnight. Just seems odd to make a big jump like that in a short time rather than a more steady loss. But then again my brain feels broken so I probably dreamed the entire thing.

Lol! Yes, it's so totally normal. .. sounds like you're doing great. It gets harder before it gets easier but it's very short lived. My energy is getting better all the time but I'm still not back to normal at 11 weeks out. Hang in there and make sure you stay hydrated. You've got this!

It took me about 4-5 days to come around on my pre-op liquid diet. I went from 1800-2000 calories/day down to about 1200/day for my 8 day pre-op liquid diet. I had a pretty normal gym routine but decided to take that week off to keep my energy levels up for day to day work. Almost 4 weeks post op, 800 calories/day on full liquids, I have more energy then ever...and I'm at the gym 4days/week now doing cardio! It will come around.....takes some time for the body to get used to the lower levels!

I'm with Jdub above. It took me a few days before I felt OK on the pre-op diet.

Your pre-op diet sounds like the one I had. I drank lots of Decaf green tea to help me get thru. I also tried to walk about 45 minutes per day.

Don't worry about the scale - you're putting your body thru a lot with this diet. A few weeks ago you were taking in a lot of food and now you're down to probably 500 calories. It's just trying to figure things out.

Best of luck to you!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
