I had the sleeve 3 months ago. Start weight was 298 the day of surgery. Did not weigh before. I have lost 46 lbs. I feel great. It was tough in

The beginning but I can eat anything I want in small portions. I have been very good for the majority of time with high protein/low carb foods. I did however enjoy the holidays with carb enriched foods/alcohol and sweets. Not excessively.

Honestly I am fine with my decisions!!! I am

Already back on track. I have way more control than I once did

I am ready to go hard and I want to spend the next 3 months focused and really loose.

My question is this:

Has anyone really stepped it up in months 3-6? And lost as much or more than

They did in months 1-3

Thank you!!!!!

I turned up the exercise in those months which contributed greatly to my downsizing. Muscles up, fat down, smiles abounding. :)

My gut feeling is no you won't lose as much as you did in the first month since most people see the biggest loss then. I think as gmanbat said exercise is a key along with good eating. They go hand in hand, if you have one and not the other they don't work nearly as well as together.

Glad you are back on track. I also had got a little off track between Christmas and New Years.

I have, once I started exercising regularly and eating clean more ofter than not I saw that the weight came off the same. I am going on 8 months and I dont lose 10+pounds like the first 3 months, but I still average 6-8. And if I didnt drink a few times a month it would probably be more. I am at 81+ pounds down and I was just over 250 when I started. I think once you are living it, you can be as successful as you want to be.

I'm almost 15 months out and want to step it up. I went off the Protein shakes a while ago, but going to go back on them now, and step up the exercise too - I've got about 50lbs still to lose before I reach my own personal goal - I know I can do this! You can too.

at 298 pounds starting weight, you can be losing massive amounts but its up to you to step up the game....the calender doesnt control your weightloss....

We were the same starting weight :-) how tall are you? I am about 5'8".

I have lost 132 pounds. My surgery was in May 2012. As this New Year dawns, I am currently focussing on learning to maintain and not really focussing on losing much more. At this stage, I am happy with where I am and know that when I have plastics for skin I will lose a bit more. I am still losing, but it is only about a pound a month.

I lost the bulk of the weight in the four months after surgery and then for the remainder of year one my weight loss was steady and constant though no where near the numbers in the first four months. Year two has seen much slower losses but that is to be expected.

I certainly hope it is possible because it is my plan!! I was sleeved 10/21 and I have lost 30lbs. Prior to surgery I had lost 32lbs, so in total I have lost 62lbs.( Since August) I absolutely struggled during the holidays, I will be the first to admit it. I don't want to be bashed or pitied, because I own what I did. I am recommitting my efforts to try to get things where I need/ want them to be. Granted the first months are supposed to be the easiest for weight loss, and now those are gone. But the honeymoon isn't over and I still plan to work the sleeve the most I can. I have my plan for fitness in place, I have downloaded the Fitbit app (and will buy the Fitbit asap) and I have the will. The third thing is probably the biggest key for success. Even at the weight I am, I am thinner than I have been in over ten years. I am very excited to see how much further I can take this. I haven't forgotten why I had surgery, I just needed to hit the reset button. So good luck to us all for keeping on keeping on!!!!!!

I agree with this. I'm entering my 3rd month in 2 weeks..and my plan is the same. Try like heck to keep up my weight loss. Initially tho, I had 140 to lose. I've lost 58, which is amazing.

But I've also read that the first 6 months is the crucial time for being able to lose the most.

Good luck! Join the valentines challenge to make it more fun and motivating!

I don't understand this. I had surgery 10/8 and have lost about 35 lbs. is this not good? I have not even cheated once! So, I will be pretty ticked if this is not good!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
