Getting my first fill tomorrow - Excited and Nervous!

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any helpful tips for me or let me know what to expect? Since being banded on 11/7 I have lost 20 pounds and am able to eat anything. I don't eat nearly as much as I used to, but I have no problems with any food and no restriction. Would like to have at least a little restriction. I am starting an exercise program on Wednesday (T25) so I can start toning before I lose any more.

It will get better after a few fills but it is gradual and be grateful for that because it takes time to learn to eat with a restricted band. Each fill, I've had to adjust how I eat a little more. As for tips, just follow your drs orders. My fills are pretty in eventful. Go in, get weighed, fill out a little questioneer, dr asks me a few questions gives me my fill has me drink and I'm done. Small pinch with fill. Some use fluoroscopy and also deaden, mine does neither. But he relies completely on what I tell him, so honesty is truly important to get my fills right.

Thank you! I'm just nervous a don't want to gain what I lost back! Everyone from work keeps asking me how much I have lost etc...I feel a lot of pressure to come back to work with a significant weight loss. No one knows how much work this still is.

Don't be nervous about a fill. Follow your surgeon's diet restrictions after it. My own surgeon says 2 days clear and 2 days full liquids before starting a normal food plan. Best wishes for your New year, you sound as if you are doing great! Karen...aka..kll724

Hi I was banded Dec 11th I go go my first fill jan 7th I can eat just about everything I've tried just in smaller portions. Having this done during the holidays was very different, but so far it's been good. I'm also a lil nervous about my first fill. Has anyone still been in pain after the third week?

I was banded in May '13. Lost 45 lbs and just had my first fill on Dec 13th. The Dr added 1 CC for a total of 3 CC. I didn't feel any difference until 5 days later. At this point I had a stuck episode and really hurt my stomach. Ended up so swollen I couldn't even get Water down for another day or two. Then I could only drink liquids then on to mushies and finally solids. The moral of my story is to be aware that you may not feel a difference for a few days but be very cautious of this. Once you realize the difference start eating like you did after surgery.

I was banded Dec 16th a and first fill isn't until 1/27. My only lasting pain at this point and it's not that bad is sometimes my port site hurts. If I move wrong or whatever it'll remind me to take it easy. My doc said that's normal as the ab muscles are still healing / getting used to it.

First fill was uneventful!! I am on liquids for two days so I don't know yet if anything is different. I do know I lost another 3 pounds so I am very excited about that. I now have 1cc and looking forward to reaching my first major goal which is only 5 pounds away. After that next goal 199!!

Hi Chicky. My first fill went just fine. My port is located in the top left portion of my left breast. Dr put in a numbing shot first and immediately put in fill of two ccs. I didn't feel a thing. I am on two days of liquids, so had a slim fast Protein Drink and Popsicle for dinner. Yum, ha ha. Thanks for checking on me! Where are you at in your WLS journey?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
