I'm trying to figure out a calorie count as well as number of fats, Protein, sugars and carbs that works best for me. Any suggestions? I'm post-op 29 days and will be cleared for all foods in five days. Any help is appreciated.

Happy New Year!!!

I have 220lbs lean body mass and am supposed to be eating 110g Protein so...

Targets - 500-800 calories, 100-130g Protein

Protein powder and Isopure drink are the only way I can get to those levels.

I'm two months out and my nutritionist told me at my 3 week appointment that I need to get around 800 calories a day. I average between 45-80g of Protein a day as well. I'm at the point where I am able to tolerate most foods.

Hey Mary! Happy New Year! :D

I'm on 42g of Protein minimum. Was told not to be bothered about a 'maximum'. (Although, if I eat too much more, I get bunged up)

800-1200 calories a day.

1500 ml of Water minimum

Trying to avoid bad fats, excessive carbs and sugar.

Simples :D

I did 800 or less calories and at least 40 grams of Protein for the first 6 months. Now I am on 1200 or less and 60+ grams if Protein. I usually get more like 80 grams now that I have added one Protein shake a day back in and usually have under 1000 calories and 200-500 calories exercise a day which I may eat some of or may not.

I am considering starting to only track protein and just make sure I have some every meal. Tracking all my food actually makes it easier for me to choose carb-y Snacks because it is easier to look at it day by day rather than meal by meal. That means I will choose to gave some low-protein Snacks because it all works out at the end of the day, but I'm not sure I'm doing myself any favors.

Just had my 30 day post-op appt and was told to not worry about counting calories but to concentrate on getting 70g of Protein, keeping my carbs under 100 and grams of fat under 30.

I was super surprised about the 100g of carbs. I had been keeping mine around 50. I think I'll stick to that and continue to work on the Protein and fat intake.

Happy New Year!

I thought this was a great thread because I had the same question. Almost 6 weeks out and average between 600-800 calories and hit 60 gm of Protein. Water intake is well over 64 ounces. BUT, I am still hungry a lot of the time. However, once I eat, I feel better.

I do very low carb...try for 30 grams carbs or less a day. I've had great weight loss with this. Milk will cause me to stall and gain if given enough time.

But...I also know that my body reacts to any carbs in a bad way. I bloat up and gain from too many. My years of doing the Dukan diet helped teach me that one.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
