Almost Passout Everytime I stand

Recommended Posts

I'm a bit concerned because I almost pass out everytime I get up from sitting. It also happens when I bend down and get up. I have had this in the past but only on occassion. It has been happening consistently over the past few days. Can anyone shed some light on what may be happening? I was sleeved on Dec.4th so am not quit a month out.

Thanks.

No, I'm not on bp meds. But when I checked it at the pharmacy it was 119/70 and then 2 days later was 117/67.

Low blood sugar?

If it was that, it wouldn't be only when standing and it would likely be showing up in other ways such as general disorientation or irritability or lack of concentration. Much more likely low blood pressure due to lack of sodium in the diet and possibly low fluids too. Probably it will normalize with time.

Just checked blood sugar, it is at 5.8 mmol/L.

What qualifies as low blood pressure? I just ate some pureed Bean with Bacon Soup (an hour ago) and am now drinking Powerade.

I think it is probably not enough liquids or sodium. I've had low Iron and low potassium in the past. I stopped tracking my food and fluids over the past few days but just started writing everything down again this morning. Man, doesn't take long to get off track.

Low blood sugar is below 3 mmol/l. 5.8 is great if you are diabetic or have eaten recently, a tiny bit high if you aren't and you haven't eaten within two hours.

I believe I am pre-diabetic.

So, I am going to assume it is a bit of dehydration and low electrolites. I'll try to increase fluids and salt to see if that helps by tomorrow. If not, I'll go get some blood work done to see what's going on.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
