Hey Tony, I'd call your doctor, it's ultimately their call, they may do a partial unfill. I know the swelling takes a few days (or longer) to subside. I've heard some people say they toughed it out and it eventually got better after a couple weeks. But I've never experienced anything like which you described. Did you follow your surgeons post-fill diet? I know someone that didn't stay on liquids and went to solids too soon and irritated their stoma. I'd call your doctor and go back to liquids until you see them. Best wishes :)

Hi Tony,

It sounds like you are too tight. Give your Dr. a call and see if he can take out even a tiny bit of Fluid for you. Right now all you are doing is making yourself miserable and irritating your stoma by getting stuck in effect making it more swollen and tighter. This could cause some severe issues down the line.

I would stick to liquids for now, Protein shakes and the like to rest the stoma until you can get to the Dr. Sometimes even the tiniest bit of Fluid in or out can make the biggest difference.

Good luck and let us all know how your doing.

I would call your doc. I was too tight for a while ( three weeks after flying) and it was hell. I let myself think I would be okay to let things resolve themselves. I was wrong and miserable. I did a 2 cc unfill from my 7.5 and you would have thought I hit the lottery. Instant relief. I have had the 2 ccs added back 1 at time over the last two months. Do yourself the favor and make the call. I hope you get some relief.

You need to go back immediately and ask your surgeon to remove a small amount of saline, which should put you in the green zone, and save yourself misery and a possible band slip, and losing most of the saline in your band which can get costly.

There are times when you can "ride it out" and times when you can't, the TEST is liquids, if liquids sit in your chest after a recent fill adjustment...it WILL not get better.

Good luck

Hey, Tony, it is not your doctors call. It is yours, you need a slight unfill, ASAP! Call today and get your self into the office today! To tight and pb'ing can cause a slip! Best wishes....Karen..aka.kll724

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
