I have my surgery date!

Recommended Posts

I just booked my lapband surgery with Dr. Cobourn for May 9. I'm soooooo excited but also very, very nervous. It's suddenly very real!!!

I began my research last fall and joined this forum in Dec. '06. After reading many posts of other people's experiences and asking lots of questions, I decided this surgery is the best decision for my health. I can't wait to be a bandster and get my life back!

:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Thank you everyone for your good wishes. I'm really excited to start this journey. I've been trying to lose weight for 30 years to no avail. :hungry: :faint:

I think it'a about time to stop beating a :deadhorse: and :kiss2: this extra weight goodbye.

:whoo:

Congratulations and good luck. Don't worry if you go through the whole gauntlet of emotions. Right up to the time I had my booties put on and put myself on the operation table I was excited, nervous, scared doubtful. Now, I wonder what the heck was I worried about. Wouldn't change a thing. I know the right decision was made and I love my band as a tool to helping me to a healther weight and lifestyle. Best wishes. Doddie

I expect I will go thru lots of different emotions and probably right up until the last moment. Thanks for the encouragement. It's nice to know that there are other people out there who know exactly what I am feeling and what I will experience. I've read in other posts as well that people often look back and wonder what they were so worried about. In retrospect, alot of people say that it wasn't as bad as they expected or as painful. I guess I'm just panicking abit.

:omg:

(Taking a deep breath)

Hey JBL,

Congrats on your date.. I am going threw the same things as you are right now. I start my opti on mar.30th and I am in a panic over everything. One day thinking should I do this, why did I book this, am I going to regret it, is it going to hurt, I won't be able to eat anything anymore, DH putting me through about the cost, my kids saying i'm crazy, ect, ect... I just feel up and down everyday. I have been biting my nails, gained maybe 15lbs with eating everything in site that I will never eat again. Went to the Keg last friday night for my last meal there.. I know exactly what you are going through!!!! But I keep telling myself that I have to do this and it's worth every penny. Even while I am typing this my stomack is in a knot. It's the unknown, and even though we read what everyone has to say on the message board, it's still very scary. The only thing that I keep telling myself is that I can always get it removed, not like bypass, unreversable(even though I know I will never take it out unless I have too). So what you are feeling is very normal and I feel for you!!! I am so looking forward to being thin again and getting back into the clothes that I have waiting for me from 2 years ago.. so here is my:hand: hand, and we will be on this same journey together.. Hi Maggiec. What you have said you are going thru is what most of us have gone thru but unless one experiences the emotions all the assurances in the world doesn't seem to put them at rest. I liked you comment about worrying "I can never eat the foods I love". Very real worry, but if eaten in very small bites and chewed really well most foods can be eaten. There are some problem foods such as fresh breads, stringy meat or veggies, but if well cooked in stews you can have those as well. No matter what, even if you can't eat your favorite foods, you are going to love your new image and have the tools to fight the little food devil thoughts that pop up now and again. I know yo will do well. Who is going to be your doctor? Doddie

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
