I have not figured out how to add friends on fitnesspal. It asks for Facebook, phone contacts or email

If you go to the "home" part you can click on friends, then hit the + part and click on add friend Via email and that's where you can add your friends by the user name.

Don't give up... I had lap-band surgery in 2010 and things where going good. Last year I was going on vacation and because I was getting stuck a lot at the time I went and had a slight unfill. Long story short I started gaining weight but I was to embarrassed to go back. I let almost 2 years pass plus gaining back 35 lbs, but I went back to the dr last week and got a fill. I am now back on track to get the 35 lbs off.

Hi there, I am sabinadublin on My Fitness Pal -- Find me or if you send me your handle there I will go friend you. Wish I had the same name for both sites as it's confusing who is who. Great tracking exercise, etc. there. Very motivating and easy - except new format now displays bread and cheese on opening page like a food magazine. A skinny person must have thought that idea up!

So glad you're back on track, Christine. Put those medical professionals to work for you -- no need to be embarrassed. You'll get that 35 off again in no time and will be feeling great again. Guess this is such a reminder of how important it is to have the right fill. Good luck with all!

I had my Lap Band this time last year and I did great at first but once I got to 30 pounds I was stuck. Being stuck took its toll and I have up. I'm back to the right mind set and ready to focus but I'm scared that I've already messed up my band. I haven't had a full for five months. Is it to late to get back on track ? Has anyone else had this problem ?

Just do it! Don't be ashamed just go to your doctor, get weighed in and let your doctor decide if you need a fill. I go every 4 to 6 weeks to my doctor. He gave me a very tiny fill this time but I also had a 3 lb gain. It wasn't the amount of food it was the caloric intake. So, I'm more aware of what I'm eating and counting calories. It is so key to getting the weight.

Hi There,

So glad I came back to this site. I'm in the same boat. I'm actually going back to the surgeon after a 3 year hiatus! It took soooo long for me to pick up that phone and make the call to come in. My appt. is Friday and I decided I'm going to walk right in and the let them do the talking. I feel the less said the better. What happened to me was I lost my insurance and had to be put on my husband's plan, which does not cover weight loss visits. I am now back on a good plan that is covered, so I'm so glad I found this post and can relate to what others are going through. I think I probably gained about 15-20 lbs., but I'm still at a decent weight loss, about 50 lbs. I figure this is a lifelong battle and there will be ups and downs. I'm back into the UP pattern and hope we can all support each other on this post!

Glad you found your way home.

So home is where the heart is or should I say friends who really care. I'm not doing good...but the dr.said I don't need a fill. I've never had one. I'm coming up to 4 mos.but I feel like I should be losing more. I've lost 25 lbs. It seems so slow. I can't get into a mindset to exercise and I'm baking like crazy for the holidays...about 20 dozen Cookies a couple candies etc. I'm keeping my distance from tasting or should I be honest and say I eat one cookie. I haven't tasted all of them. I've gained 1 lb. But thats not the point...I am failing the band. I need for health reasons to lose about 50 lbs more. I need motivation and don't know how to instill it into my mind that I must do it. The dr says I'm fine ...slow is good...I might be in the green zone...but why don't I feel like it? Am I depressed? I think so. I take about 6 psychiatric drugs to help manage my bipolar disorder. But I always find myself in a blue mood during the holidays. Happy one moment down the next that is bipolar. I know keep myself busy exercising instead of baking. I think today will be the last day of baking. I promised my grandaughter she could help me to make cookies this afternoon. But it will be my last cookie making project. I just talked myself into it. I ned all the advice I can get to get over this hump. I thankyou all in advance and have a very Merry Christmas.

Before you start baking try giving yourself a healthy high Protein snack so maybe you won't be tempted. Also atry sipping on harmless liquids. I personally am a coffee and hot chocolate person. I use diet hot chocolate. Try to get the deprived feeling out of your head.

I personally have got to where I do more Proteins in the evening to cutout my evening cravings.

I'm not eating except tonight had a piece of pecan pie at a neighbor's Christmas dinner. I can usually keep myself from sampling it's not the baking but baking instead of exercising. If I would put more interest into exercising like I've done before I would feel more positive about myself.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
