Anyone struggling with Insomnia

Recommended Posts

I'm 15 days post lapband revision to sleeve. I'm not in any more pain so I'm not on any pain medication. However, I cannot sleep at night. I already take a sleeping pill and anxiety pill but nothing is helping. Anyone else experiencing this? Suggestions?

My sleep has been all over the map! I always have trouble after surgery. I don't know why but it usually takes me a month or two to starighten out after my bidy goes through a trauma.

I'm 4.5 weeks out and cannot sleep at night and fight falling asleep all day. I work day shift and this is not going to work well for me!

I had a problem with insomnia early on. I found that if I had a high-protein dairy snack before I went to bed, then I could sleep. Try cottage cheese or Greek yogurt. Something easy to digest.

Also, don't exercise before bedtime. And take Calcium and magnesium before bed. They help make you sleepy. Take multi- Vitamin early in the day.

If none of that works, call your primary care physician.

What is your anxiety pill? Is it an SSRI? Were you on it preop? I could never sleep on them, even when taking Ambien. They affect your serotonin levels, which play an important role in your normal sleep cycle.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
