6 Days Left , Need Encouragement!

I've so fell off on my pre op diet! I haven't cheated or ate any food BUT I haven't been getting in my 64 ounces of Fluid nor have I been doing shakes. I've been doing Soup , and Jello, and yogurt.. Don't get me wrong I've lost 13 pounds since the 1st of December BUT I feel like I'm doing really bad right now. I'm gettin tired of this diet and everything else that's goin on with me I'm gettin stressed. On another note about how long does it take a persons stomach to completely empty?

Hey, it gets pretty overwhelming all at once...just take it one step at a time.

The other good advice I've been given:

Remember, you can't eat in the shower or when you are sleeping. If you're feeling stressed maybe try a hot bath or shower or a nap/rest?

I try to keep myself distracted with books, etc. so I don't get overwhelmed. Or I come here and look for advice.

Hang in there!

Ke, try to get your Protein in. You will need to get it in post-op. My nutritionist said that there appears to be a correlation to the amount of lost hair post-op, normally 3 to 6 months later, to the amount of Protein you eat.

Good luck. You can do it.

I've been following you since you started your preop diet and I know it hasn't been easy for you. You are doing great! It doesn't give me a lot of hope for my own preop diet that's coming up soon, as I know it's going to be tough, but hopefully I'll get through it, LOL. :)

Maybe you can try drinking more Protein shakes and they will keep you more satisfied? I'm not on my preop diet yet but I've been trying to drink a Protein shake every day at lunch and I've been surprised at how satisfying they are. Of course, it's not taking the head hunger or the desire to eat carbs away but that's a different story. :)

I'm not doing too great with getting my fluids in either. My NUT wants me to drink at least 64 oz. of Fluid a day and I'm lucky if I've gotten in half that. We have to keep trying, right?

Oh wow never really thought anyone was lookin at my ramblings lol. But in the beginning I was getting all the Fluid but now I'm definitely not !! All we can do is keep trying. Start each day with a clean slate and no regrets from yesterday .

I'm on day 12 as well Ke, you are correct, this isn't easy. I haven't had physical hunger as much as head hunger. I skipped a holiday party last night because frankly I didn't want to put myself in a bad position. Why do that to myself? For the same reason I'm not bringing certain foods into the house. I made my husband eat the rest of the orange honey greek yogurt because it was calling me from the fridge :) I'm sticking to the pre-op pretty well but also have trouble with the Water. I am probably barely hitting my 64 ozs, but yesterday was super busy at work and I probably only hit about 40. Keep on keepin' on, the end is in sight!!

I was really lucky in my preop diet requirements & didn't have to do a liquid diet. But I hear folks say all the time that the preop diet is the worst part, especially if it's an all liquid or all shake diet. Try your best to stick to the guidelines you were given, and know that it's only temporary. You've done great so far & will continue to do great after. Hang in there, it's almost over!

My sleeve is the 18th too. The pre-op diet really bother me the first three or four days. I've stuck with the diet for the most part and if I did go off it was still for high Protein and no carbs. I've only lost 7 lbs but I'll take it. I've been stressed also but I started to visualize my surgery day from start to finished with a good outcome and that's really calmed me down. Glad to know we'll be together in this.

You'll be fine hang in there. The pre-op was the hardest. I had 3 days for my sleeve and one week when I had my band. I remember it did get easier after day 3 or 4. After surgery, you won't be as hungry.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
