Revision Sugery From Lap Band To Sleeve!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! Haven't ever posted on here so I might be a little shy or nervous! Lol Just getting back on YouTube (where I first documented my journey) and saw all the rough stuff everyone has been through.. I had a slip and they were able to fix it by just removing saline. A couple of months went by and the same thing happened. I ended up having revision Surgery on Dec 2nd. The doctor wanted to do it in 2 steps but my insurance company wouldn't go for it. After he got it approved for me to get a sleeve he ended up doing 3 surgeries in one. I had my band removed, a sleeve, and a huge hiatal hernia fixed/removed. It was the most painful thing I have ever felt in my life!! Today I am 5 days post op and dying for some food that I could chew!! I snuck two saltines and chewed, chewed, chewed... Anyone ever had a problem with this? I'm gonna try to keep posting regularly! Thanks for reading!! Stay strong and healthy!!

Cris

Immediately post sleeve it won't be "true" hunger as all your hunger hormones have gone along with most of your stomach... Head hunger or your body misreading thirst, most likely.

You have a LOT of healing to do - don't cheat. It is so not worth the risk. Every dr is different but mine didn't even allow Water till day 4 (on IV fluids till then) - solids were weeks away. He is v cautious but has v few complications too.

There's a lot wisdom in the threads on this site - follow it and with a teensy bit of luck you'll do very well. Good luck.

I had my band out and sleeve done at the same time also. 5 mths post op now. I had a rough recovery also, alot of pain. It took my dr an extra 30 mins to dig my band outa my stomach so he told me it would be more painful. I guess I wasn't ready for it cuz it blew me away. My band was easy peasy. Everyone on here (it seemed at the time) was running 16 miles the day after taking Tylenol for pain and were feeling great.

I was on a 4 week full liquid diet and my hunger came back on day 10. I didn't cheat once (firstly cuz my husband is the diet Nazi and I knew he'd tattle on me and 2ndly cuz I was so paranoid about getting a leak). While I cheated after the first week after my lapband 4 yrs ago. Don't eat anything you're not sposed to. I promise the liquid phase will go by quickly and it'll be a thing of the past.

I literally could've eaten my own arm that first month. Hubby wouldn't let me cheat. Hang in there. It WILL get better soon. As soon as u can add some substance. Until then, keep drinking ur Protein shakes, cream Soups (or whatever ur instructed to eat) and Water...

Good luck!

I was reading your post and sympathizing with you until I read that you ate crackers and it struck fear in my heart! I like the idea of ice chips as a good idea to let you chew something. You could freeze flavored Water, too! Be strong....you'll get through these phases before you know it!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
