Hair Loss - I Could Weave A Wig

Recommended Posts

So the Hair loss is driving me nuts. Im almost 4 months out and its in full swing or full fall, I should say. I have long hair and its on everything!! Has anyone had luck with anything? Biotin pills or even Rogain or Minoxidil. I know it sounds vain, but I didn’t like being fat with a full head of hair and I don’t want to be skinny and bald either – yikes!!

The most recent peer reviewed studies of Biotin show it does nothing to stop hair loss. People that have reported success with it often mistake the end of the normal, relatively brief shedding cycle for a Biotin-induced result.

You are going to lose the hair it's inevitable. The only thing that I know of that can reduce the amount you lose is getting your Protein in. I am using Revita Shampoo and conditioner. It is a follicle stimulator which causes the follicle to grow hair quicker and is working quite well for me. I figure as I lose hair I can grow some at the same time and balance it out. This is actually working for me. You can order it on Amazon. I have new hair growing all over the place. I started it about 2 months ago. Good luck to you! :)

Thanks I'll look into that shampoo.

Of course I knew it would happen but when reality sets on, it's like Oh crap!

my hair fell out by the handfuls, but it also grew back in. My hairstylist said not to worry about it that she sees lots of people who lose hair after a major surgery and that it always grows back. She pointed out my new baby hair that was growing back and I was stoked.. I have a full head of hair now. I'm a year out

I started losing it at 3 months. I'm almost 6 months now and it is definitely slowing down. I ended up cutting my hair shorter so it wouldn't look like it was thinning. My hairdresser says there is a lot of new growth coming in so I may start growing it out again.

I also read an article that stated any prolonged "diet" where you are consuming less than 1200 calories is going to result in Hair loss. Not a lot we can do to prevent it. The funny thing is that I went for my 6 month follow up with my surgeon last week and he said he's never heard of people losing their hair!

Really? I thought that was a well known side effect.

I know! You would think a doctor would know that a restricted diet could result in hair loss! LOL!

Other than that, I do like him though!

I lost some hair, I was sleeved 6/19/13 and down 121lbs, I have had some Hair loss but at the same time I got hair spikes popping out all over my head and I haven't used no special hair ointment but did used head & shoulders once. I feel so much better. They told me I might have 30% loss of hair but my head is so thick the Doctor told me it wouldn't matter anyway

I will be approaching my 2-year anniversary date (April 2014), I am STILL having MAJOR hair loss. I have tried everything. I have resolved myself that I am going to be bald by the time I hit goal weight. My husband said he would buy me a wig ;(

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
