My husband and I just got into our first big fight since my surgery on 12/4. Ours was due to increased pressure and stress. He stayed with me in the hospital the entire time so we were both exhausted. I hope y'all work everything out!!

Thanks jmckenzie! Misery loves company lol

Sore this morning but good. Stepped on the scale and had to get off and back on again because I didn't believe the number! I am now 213! (Starting weight 230) That's 17lbs in 8 days! I have not been this weight since 2010!

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to post. You obviously have a lot of stuff going on and I'm touched that in spite of everything you're still checking in and updating with us. Congrats on your weight loss! :)

The biggest struggle for me pre op was the "unknown". So I felt that if I could pass my experience along it might help someone else's anxiety.

I went back to work today! Not because I had too, I could have has the rest of this week off too. I actually wanted to. I did a half day and it was great (for work anyways). Feeling pretty good. Still not getting In enough Fluid but it gets easier everyday.

I have been around people that have "flashed" on me as well. I am glad that you are choosing to focus on your recovery and the children, rather then engaging in an endless argument. I find that the person doing that has been holding in a lot of anger, frustration with themselves or emotional pain. Some relationships I felt the need to end, for my own sanity. For others, it was not as easy. I now choose to not respond to certain comments and I have learned mostly to communicate more effectivly. I ask people what they need from me and I tell them what I need from them.

LuminousLife,

Thank you for posting your experience post-op, I am scheduled to be sleeved on Dec. 17th. Some days the thoughts terrifies me and other days I am relieved to be taking this new journey in my life. The fear if keeping this weight should be greater than losing it!!! My biggest fear is the unknown, not having control of what happens once they will me into that OR. I pray that you continue to have a speedy recovery.

Question. I am a band patient revising to sleeve so I understand the upper GI and with the band it wasn't an issue but after sleeve everyone says liquids hurt going down for a few days.. How on earth does the barium go down right after???

That was my biggest fear too. Turns out the actual surgery is the easy part. The recovery is hard. For me anyway. I'm struggling getting in my h20. You will do well I'm sure. As long as you have done your research and found a good surgeon, follow ALL pre op and post op rules you will be OK. I am anxious to see what the next few months brings. Best of luck and keep me posted! :)

I was fairly drugged up when they did it but it wasn't hard. They did it on the 2nd day at the hospital. It was a tiny sip and it wasn't barium it was a clearish soapy substance. Tiny sip then they let me rinse and spit.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
