I Dont Think My Nut Believes In Me

Recommended Posts

So I've been on my pre op medically supervised diet for 6 months. I have my surgery jan 8th 2014. Everytime I go see my nut I get these feeling that she just roles her eyes and doesn't believe in me. I am always doing something wrong in my food journals. She just doesn't come across very friendly. She says she doesn't mean to be offensive, but it's her job. Has anyone else had this feeling with their nut, doctors etc?...

I would ask her if she has ever had a weight problem...just because it is her job does not mean that she really knows the struggles obese people (hate that word) go through. i always wonder what is really going on in their heads....

Wouldn't we all like to be helped by people who know what we feel and the struggles we go through....

Currently, mine is pissed at me for listening to my surgeon MD, rather than her.

She seems to just want to be "right" all the time.

I'm considering changing my NUT or just not having one.

Glad I'm not the only one. No she's always been skinny. She's a vegan and she's new to our center so I'm not sure she knows how to deal with obese people. It's just really frustrating. I'm going to eat salads all week and see what problem she can find with that...

Make sure you don't use a lot of salad dressing!

From the people who I've interacted with that are vegan or vegetarian, most seem to feel they're better than those who eat meats. Kinda funny to me, since I myself, before my VSG (10/24) was a vegetarian for almost 3 and half years...

Yes... I thought it was just me. My Nut does the same thing looks for any type of flaw in my journal to comment on. I really don't need that-if I had a perfect diet I wouldn't be having surgery! What they don't seem to realize is that most of us have a wealth of knowledge about proper nutrition from years of dieting. It's putting the knowledge into action...

She says it's her job to be offensive? I would terminate my relationship with her and demand to be seen by another NUT in the office. She certainly fits her acronym.

Yes just because she is new to your center doesnt mean you have to put up with that. The Number One most important thing here is your success. The center should know she is not helpful--their interest is in your success, and it shouldnt be success "in spite of" the NUT. See if they have another one on their team you can switch to.

Hang in there & good luck!

We have been offended enough...don't you think! This woman needs to be Enlightened about her role as a NUT. When you are done and surgery is over..You can tell her how she made you feel....and then tell her what you think of her offensive style!!!!!!!!!!

She is the only nutritionist with my weight loss center. I wrote an anonymous review about her. I have no choice right now but to use her. I can't wait to prove her wrong with how successful I will be with my VSG!

You go somewhere for help and they are interested in helping you...And this woman who has no idea what it is like to struggle with weight issues gives you attitude....Giving her back attitude will only make matters worse...BUT...like I said when all is said in done..knock her on her uppity ass......

My NUT is awesome and impressed that I bring a journal in. She's just made recommendations, and been sweet. I would see about changing to someone else if that is an option.

Who runs the clinic? I would talk to them. If she is new, she is likely on probation. A good nut is very important. The patient must be able to trust them and respect them.

Silly question, but what's a "Nut"?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
