Restriction after Fill Is NOW GONE!!!

Hello everyone!

I am hoping that someone will have had this same experience.

I was banded on Jan 23rd and had my first fill on Feb 22nd and was filled 2.2 cc in a 4 cc band I believe. When I first recvd the fill I was very restricted was eating very little and lost 4 pounds the 1st week afterwards. I have now gained 2 of that back and feel the way I did before the fill! I am terrified that I have a leak and the fill has just emptied out. I have to go to CO for the fills and it costs me a lot of money, I am so scared that something is wrong. Does anyone have any advice or similar experience?

Yes, your fill can go away. Sometimes its because you have lost additional weight or you may have a slow leak. I would go back in for a fill and see how much they take out. It just sounds like you need another fill. I didn't get restriction until 4 fills. Good luck.

Hey there;

I tend to agree...i think that after the swelling subsides there is sometimes the feeling that my fill doesn't seem as full as it should be. Check it out to be sure though is my thought! You cannot be too careful with these things

My restriction comes and goes. Mine will be gone for as long as a week, and then it comes back. I had a horrible case of bronchitis, and I completely lost all restriction. Now it's back BIG TIME!!! Very strange! Maybe yours will come back???

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
