November 18Th, Anyone?

Recommended Posts

I'd love to have a surgery buddy to text and private message so I don't annoy my family. Plus it might be helpful to support someone else and not focus on myself. Any takers?

I had my surgery on the 17th. Had pain from the drains but once out felt much better. Got stitches out this morning and back at work. Struggling to get all the liquids in but continue to try. Still retaining a lot of Fluid and scale just started moving on the weekend. Down 8 pounds. How are you doing?

Hey, I had my surgery Nov 18. First week was miserable, 2nd week better but not good. I was losing about a pound a day. This week I'm back to work & struggling to get my liquids & Protein in. Have actually gained 2 pounds. Feeling very discouraged. Hope this is one of those stalls I hear about. Can't imagine I did this major thing and will still not lose more than 20 pounds. Feeling embarrassed, wish I hadn't told anyone at work. But figured it would be obvious when I lost a ton of weight quickly. Not so much. Will try to go to support group at hospital today, but we're expecting bad weather so idk if that will happen. Would love a surgery buddy (or 2).

Jen...I'm three weeks today (11/14) and I hit that dreaded stall. I only weigh weekly because, quite frankly, I would drive myself insane if I did it every day. So last week, I lost 1.8 pounds - my heart actually hurts right now.

I'm putting my scale away again today and will pull it back out next Thursday in hopes that it comes up with a better number for me!

Hang in there - I hope the scale is better to you as well.

I should definitely put the scale away. But it was so cool last week to weigh & see 1-2 pounds coming off each day. Now it's not happening like that, which I guess is normal. I just don't know what normal is for me anymore. But it's got to get better right?

It will - my rational brain knows this. There is no way we aren't losing, right? The whole calories in vs. calories out thing.

I think sometimes we get hung up on comparing ourselves to what everyone else is doing and trying to figure out what's "normal". I don't think that's healthy. Our bodies are going to move at their own pace - our hearts don't beat at the same rate, our metabolisms are different, we're moving our bodies in a different ways, but we expect to have "normal" or the same results as someone else.

For now, I am going to just try to get thru today doing what I'm supposed today...3 shakes, 3 "meals" (80 grams of protein) and go to the gym for a treadmill walk (there is 8 inches of snow on the ground now, so walking outside isn't in the cards for me).

I have to keep reminding myself that this journey is a marathon, not a sprint!!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
