K, I understand with eating more Protein, comes more gas, and a lot of it!!! I've try Beano, Gas X-extra strength, and it just keeps coming. So miserable during the day, especially at work, Just feel if I could just stick a pin in my gut, it would all go away. But it just sits there, all day, and always worried that "it will happen". I will be walking down the hall or bending over and "Boom"! For all to hear.

With all that said, does anyone have any suggestions on what can ease this? I saw something called "Charcoal" at Wal-Mart that's suppose to help and I plan on getting today (will let ya'll know if that works). But if anyone knows of something that actually works, please share.

I never had an issue with Protein and gas. If I add in veggies, definitely. But Protein alone (eggs, chicken, fish, meat) seems to keep my gut quiet. Could the gas be coming from something else you may be eating? If your Protein shakes are milk based, could it be lactose intolerance? I drink only Lactaid, which eliminates the gas/stomach issues with milk. Just some thoughts…… The gas might be from the form of protein….or what's mixed with it, rather than the protein itself. Make sense?

I take something called Devrom. It helps me with the gas feeling and the smell!

I know how you feel. Been a problem for me also. What I find works is a heating pad for the pain of the gas and it helps to pass it and exercise. I stand up, put my feet abit apart, then put my hands on the floor in front of me (like trying to touch your toes)...you will literally feel the gas move from chamber to chamber. Keep that position for at least 10-15sec then repeat a few times. You will see that the gas will come out. It was so bad me for at one point that I was saying to myself that my social life was over...lol. When I decided to eat strictly Protein and veggies, my gas diminished considerably. I notice that when I eat Pasta, grains, etc..and heavy gluten my gas increases so keep a journal of what gives you more gas. Good luck. :)

Have you considered a large cork?

Seriously, I have been banded for 10 months now and have never found anything that would make a dent in it. Beans make it worse, but it is always there. But I will settle for a little flatulence in exchange for the new life I now have.

Besides, it makes me go faster on my road bike!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
