Who banded you and messed it up? Oh my that is a scary thought...

I was just banded at Magee in 11/4 and they screwed it up so I was rebanded on 11/6. It was my worst nightmare but thankfully I am doing great now. Who is your surgeon?

Me too... I was gonna go with Eid but he is leaving to another facility. My surgeon is Anita Courcoulas: date Jan 2 if everything is approved.

I am being banded at Magee, too! My date is Dec 2nd. Who is your surgeon? I have Dr. Hamad.

Oh, just saw you have Dr. M. Dr. Hamad is also doing the plication study, so I joined the study and had my research tests done today, a dexascan and a resting metabolic rate measurement.

Dr courcoulas is awesome. I just dont like the fact you dont see much of her after surgery, unless something is wrong. But she is the best surgeon there, very straight foreward.

Who banded you and messed it up? Oh my that is a scary thought...

My surgeon was Dr. Ramanathan. He put a too small band on and fillled it to capacity, sealing my stomach shut for 2 days. I was miserable and sick in the hospital until I demanded they remove it or replace it. Just make sure they have bith size bands available when they go in. It was something I never thought to ask but I wish I would've.

Hello everyone! My band surgery is set for December 6th. I was given the 7 day diet of 1,000 calories per day (High Protein shakes, one very small no fat, high Protein lunch until the day before surgery).

They said it is to put your body in starvation mode which shrinks the liver and allows easier application of the band. I'm very nervous as I still have to tend to two children and be a full time college student and work a full time job.

On a side note, I don't understand why some has a pre-surgery liquid diet, my type, or none at all. How is this different from those who don't and the band was placed with no issues?

Hi. I was banded by dr Mccloskey on October 14th. U c her for a second before surgery then I saw her once in the hospital. The RNs and aides are great. The UGI post op sucks. I went home 2 days later(couldn't pee). Pre op I was only Clear Liquids til midnight then nothing after midnight.

Saw dr m at my follow up. She is very nice and answered all questions.

Saw PA this week. And she said a few things that I didnt like but gonna c how she goes. Told me she doesn't think I will b successful. I thought WTF I will show u!

I have lost 36 pounds since surgery. 6 weeks.

I am going to be banded on 12/02/2013 in Arizona . Thanksgiving was very difficult with the preop diet. I cant wait to get the surgery and the post op diet.

Today is day 3 of the preop diet and yesterday I almost buckled!!! I felt weak and starving! I'm allowed popsicles and hello but nothing was helping. I can have cream of wheat with milk, smart ones meal at lunch (200 calories and highest protein), and high Protein shakes. If I need to do things, it's burning calories and I feel sick. Left the house Saturday for a hair appointment, was sitting in the chair waiting for the color to process and went to the bathroom 3 times. Watery mouth, heat flashes, and stomach aches!!!!

If my body has been in (since 11/29) and will be (until 12/5) in starvation mode, doesn't that put your body into store fat mode. Myfitnesspal says when I complete my daily food diary I can shut down my metabolism. I'm wondering how much this affects weight loss after banding.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
