My surgery is 11-12-13 I have been so excited and past ready to do this but now with just 2 days away I am so nervous. Has anyone thought right before surgery gosh I hope I'm doing the right thing? I hope I'm not alone on this. I read posts/success stories and can't wait to be one but man my nerves are crazy right now. Thanks for everyone's insight and encouraging words

:)

Someone else wrote somewhere else that you'd be crazy if you weren't nervous. Fact: most of us are on some level. You are going to do great. Think about what you are doing for yourself and try not to read too much into the negative feedback.

Same day as you. Not at all nervous about the surgery itself, but about all the changes it will bring in mine and my family's life. I know it will be for the better but it's that fear of the unknown that is making me so anxious. I try to keep busy to keep my mind off of it. Just wish Tuesday was here!

I don't even have a date yet, so I'm behind you...and I'll tell you what: I see people posting this all the time. I think your feelings are totally normal. I actually plan to write myself a letter when I get my date. In the letter, I'll remind myself of all the reasons why I'm doing this and all the good things that are coming my way...because I've also seen folks upset after surgery. With the pain and all the major adjustments, people start to worry if they did the right thing, etc. It's only natural. I think writing a letter to myself will help me to calm down and relax...and just realize that I need to go through a little angst to get to the good things.

You're going to be fine. This will be over before you know it and then you'll be posting before/after pictures and rejoicing about your decision to give yourself this amazing tool. You got this!

HotMessPrincess, I LOVE the idea of writing yourself a letter! I don't have a date yet either, but I will be borrowing your idea when the time comes.

Thanks, Autumn! We are each the best person to judge what's going to be hardest on this journey...and I know myself. I think I'll need it to talk me down off the ledge after surgery (figuratively speaking, of course). I expect to be all weepy and feeling sorry for myself at some point right after surgery...so this is my solution. Borrow away, girl! We're all in this together.

Wow the big day is coming soon. I'm nervous about my surgery and its not until march so I can only imagine how you feel. Being nervous is completely natural. Just know it will be over soon and you are on your way to a new healthier you.

It is perfectly to be nervous this close to surgery. You are anxious to have it done since it is so close, and also nervous because it is an unknown for you at this point. You know your life is about to change and it will be forever.

I wrote down the exact reasons I had the surgery in case afterwards I was having a case of regret. Putting it all in writing also helped put my mind at ease that I was making the right choice.

I was a revision lap band to sleeve on 10/25/13 and I have not had any problems at all including pain from the CO2 gas and nausea.

Good luck to all with your upcoming surgeries.

I wish you all the best. I've got my surgery in a little less than 2 weeks and am already really nervous! But it will come and go and you'll have a new lease of life...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
