i dont have much advice as i am still pre op but if you are looking to try some different foods, try getting some recipes from theworldaccordingtoeggface.com. i know she has some great recipes. I have heard that her ricotta bake is awesome and i cant wait to try it once i get to the soft phase! good luck

The first thing I would do is call your Nut, double check with them and see if your getting enough cal/protein in. It all looks good to me, but that will settle the non-argument and put her mind to ease.

Keep up the good work!

You are eating way more than I was at that stage - I think I was still on shakes and Soups. Less than 500 cals a day... and doing what I could to get 50 grams of Protein. Im now 3 months out and getting 800 cals a day - I do try to add a couple of ounces of vegies to my dinner - and 75 g of protein. Your doc or NUT will be the best person to tell you what to do though.

Im pre op but everything I'm reading and just looked at my post op meal planner...thats alot...for only being 3 weeks out...Good luck....80 gs of Protein is plenty for the day...my NUT said over that is "useless"...just make sure you have the 80 grams & plenty of water..

Well you are a man.. So your stomach size might be bigger than a woman's, which would explain the Ability to eat a 1/2 a cup of food at a time... Your wife is not your nutritionist. I would call them because they would know better than her or us. But yes you want to do Protein first and foremost.

The big question isn't about what anybody else thinks you're doing. How do you feel?

Are you losing consistently or did you lose a lot immediately and have tapered? You're freshly sleeved, so you should expect a stall or slowdown around 3 weeks to one month out.

Do you feel deprived? Do you feel the desire to eat more? Do you feel any ill effects from your current diet?

It took me MONTHS to get in just the Protein and the Water daily. From there, it was a slow incline to add in good quality fruits, vegetables and grains.

It takes time to reach that "normal" diet. And while you have a tiny capacity, Protein is the most important thing (outside of staying hydrated) because you do not want your body to scavenge your muscle instead of your fat. Protein will aid healing, too.

If you suffer from low energy, I suggest more carbohydrates. But an easy way to do that? Switch your shake to one with more carbs, or mix it with milk if you aren't already. That will give you more carbohydrates without forcing you eat more food.

Because quite honestly, you don't want to eat a greater variety of foods only to find that you're "wasting" your space on two bites of broccoli instead of an ounce of dense protein! There's time for variety and balance after you've healed. Expect to expand your diet somewhere around three months out, unless you have more room sooner.

If your wife isn't a WLS patient, it's more likely she's just caught up in the drastic change in your diet. Doing what you're currently doing for the long haul would not be appropriate. But temporarily? This is what most of us do early out!

Good luck, and congrats on your sleeve and your success so far.

Since your wife cares so much perhaps she would benefit from learning about your special needs with the sleeve. Maybe get the Big Sleeve Book, as well as specific nutrition info from your doctor and nutritionist for her to read up on. Most nutritionists will give you some guidelines, such as how many grams of Protein, grams of carbohydrates, grams of fat, etc. to have with the sleeve. And of course, remember your rules: protein first, veg next, complex carbs third, and get in at least 64 oz of Water. Don't sacrifice protein for veg. We sleevers don't eat a "balanced" diet like normal people, we have special requirements. One day you'll get it all in, but not early on. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
