When did you stop cleaning your inscisions and just let them air out and heal naturally?

Recommended Posts

Like there are two inscisions that I can see are going to take more time than the other three which already look good to go (3 days post op).

How long did YOU treat your inscisions???

4 days after release from Hospital. I'm 7 days out and fully healed - just pink. I think the daily neosporin helped speed it along.

I literally never touched mine at all. I'm used to tattoo and piercing care so competitively I did nothing at all. In reality what I did do was use antibacterial dial soap in the shower and let them get plenty of air from day one. I never had more than some steri-strips and skin glue though. By day 3 post op they were already healed.

My dr said to leave the steri strips on until my post op appointment. . Day ten post op he took them off and they were pretty much all healed up!

I have dermabond on mine, so they aren't open to air just yet. Mine are healing up nicely though. (3 days post op as well)

My surgeon used glue to cover mine. I am supposed to let the glue naturally fall off and voila all better! I am skeptical but my incisions look really good. I am 5 days post op.

I never did anything beyond antibacterial soap until.... I had the dermabond and 2 healed in days, the big one and other 2 small ones were slower. The 2 small ones got pretty pink and were a little sore and the glue/scab lifted up partially on my big one creating a breeding ground. I kept them clean with dial soap and used triple antibiotic ointment and it all healed right up. I still have no idea why the two on the right healed in days while the left lingered around for awhile. If the scab hadn't lifted I wouldn't have used anything other than antibacterial soap but it got kinda gross when that happened.

Ok thanks ladies, I have no glue, and no steri strips, only stitches that will dissolve. I was told to wash daily with soap and Water, then use peroxide. I do have one that is looking a little oozy. Using neosporine. Have a bad rash all over my stomache, probably from the adhesive tape :-(

So this is what I woke up to. Doc told me to shower normally once I got home. I am 8 days post op and the large Patches and hearts are now gone (surgery team must have thought they were cute...sweet gesture). I now just have sterile strips, but some of those are falling off. I am just using an antibacterial soap when showering and leaving them alone.

I'm two weeks post op and my incisions are not fully healed yet. They are partly, but not all the way.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
