How soon after surgery did you resume taking vitamins?

Recommended Posts

I just got sleeved in Mexico. Very conflicting information. One paper says when I get home. Another says one week. The discharge consultant said 14 days. (Super confused)

chewables, immediately. My program advised no pills larger than tic-tacs for 3 months, but i had no difficulty swallowing pills of any size after a month.

I also am getting sleeved in Mexico, but not until February . I'm trying to adjust to the changes I will have to make. I haven't taken Vitamins for over a year so I bought my chewable vitamins early and started taking them now so it's one less change I have to make after surgery. I got mine from Unjury.< /p>

What happens if you take a big Vitamin and it gets stuck? Does it just sit there til it dissolves?

I think I started Vitamins about 1 month out - after I was back on full foods. To test my stomach's reaction, I broke the tablet in half and swallowed it. After 5 minutes, I didn't feel any stomach distress, so I took the other half. I've been taking the whole tablet since then.

I was told chewables only in the first year post-op. The coating on and size of big Multi Vitamins are problems. I've been taking the Celebrate Multi-Complete chewable Vitamin specifically formulated for the sleeve patient. I have them in both the orange and Forest berry flavor, and I think they both taste great. I don't love just chomping away on them, although they're not bad if you do. Decent texture and flavor all the way through. Instead, I pop on in my mouth and suck on it for a while, like a lozenge. It dissolves and softens as I get my morning Protein Shake together, etc. I chew up whatever I have left. I bought my Vitamins on Amazon.< /p>

I don't have to use chewables. I double-checked with my surgeon and everything.

He asked a lot questions concerning about it, and I guess my answers were sufficient.

Besides, in my town, finding adult Vitamins with the requirements is hard enough.

Lets not make it impossible, and make it chewable.< /p>

I took my meds and Vitamins at hospital. Take one at a time, 1/2 if they're large but just test how easy they go down. Most are fine.

My doc told me yesterday that it'd b about the second week postop, so don't worry over it until time.

I started mine day of surgery, including the five pills I take non related to WLS. I swallow them, but Vitamins are chewable. Once in a while, I throw up, but it's getting better. I'm 3 weeks out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
