How long after VSG before the scale moved?

Recommended Posts

Guess I was one of those folks that thought the pounds would just fall off but it has been almost 2 weeks and haven't seen much of a difference on the scales. I gained 8 pounds after surgery obviously from the IV and it took a week before I returned to my presurgery weight, it's almost 2 weeks now so wondering when I'll start shedding the weight. Particularly starting at such a high weight, I thought I'd be a couple of pounds down by now. How long before your weight started coming off?

It's funny if this was me dieting pre-VSG, this would be the point were I'd go eff it and go get some pizza. Thankfully can't do that anymore so just gonna keep keepin' on.

I had weight come off at 10 days post op, then stalled a week and a 1/2 later. That lasted a good 2 weeks (maybe lost 1lb.) Im now 7 weeks out and lost 2 lbs. since yesterday. This weight loss happens like a staircase. You will drop, then flatten out, then drop, then flatten out. Be patient, stick to your surgeon/nut advice and walk walk walk.

Hope this helps

I've lost 34lbs. in 7 weeks and 12lbs. Pre surgery. I wish it was a little faster, but I had some issues with getting Protein and fluids in..That will also hamper weight loss.

Sounds just like me...totally flat lined on the scale. Then at about a week I had about three mornings of loss equalling about 7 lbs. Now.. nothing! I hope I lose a few more before I go back to work on Tuesday. I just started with purees yesterday and an getting even less calories than before! I figure its bound to happen sometime

I am almost 5 weeks out. I lost 26 lbs post op and 16 lbs pre op on the liquid diet. Started 250. I am having a lot of issues with my Water and Protein still due to health issues post op. Hoping everything relaxes some and I start losing more. I am losing like 1-2 lbs every few days the last week or so.

I lost 13 lbs in the first two weeks, then pretty much nothing the next two weeks. Started at 242.9 morning of surgery then stopped at 230-230.8. This morning I finally dropped to 229.8. I am trying not to weigh myself everyday because it's just frustrating. I am ok with being a slow loser but it's hard to lose 13 pounds in two weeks and then nothing in the next two.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
