Spent the weekend at Minecon (Minecraft convention) with my son, so only able to get my walking in.

Run: 0 (Goal 40)

Walk: 21 (Goal 50)

Bike: 0 (Goal 30)

Total: 21

we love minecraft! We had a server set up in the house and we'd all get on it, skype my son in Austin and play for hours. :)

OMG where was the convection! I would get mom of the year award if I took my son!!

It was in Orlando, but there were only 7,500 tickets and they sold out in minutes. We were lucky and got three (one for me, my son, and his best friend). It was an amazing event and very family friendly. Not sure where next year's Minecon will be, but I'm guessing somewhere in Europe. All the major Minecraft Youtube stars were there. They also had a private party for Minecon attendees at Universal Islands of Adventure.

I wish I could play. I get major motion sickness from it. I am a very supportive parent though. It's a wonderful game for developing problem solving skills and creativity.

This will be my first time joining in :) My surgery is Nov 7 so I'm going to make a reachable goal. I think this is awesome and it will motivate me!! I'm going to say walk 45 miles. I'm so excited lol I don't think I have ever used that word to describe exercising!!

As of today I've done 18.5 miles :) Hoping to get up to 30 before surgery on Thursday

Same as yesterday and my new fitbit is here! Yay! MTD: 5 miles and 86s of planking. Haven't been able to psych myself up did c25k still. I had such a flare up last time. Ugh. Need to try again soon.

5 miles biking, 1.16 walking day 4 of planksgiving where I did 40 seconds so

MTD:

Miles: 11.16

Plank: 126 s

Partial Hyper extension: 40 s

C25k : bok bok bok (chicken noises)

I think I'll add hyperextension to my goal. I mean, I'm on the floor to plank anyway, may as well do something else while I'm there. With my dang knees getting on the floor is hard enough. Don't want to waste it :)

Edited to add my walking which I forgot.

How are you gonna do hypers on the floor? You mean like supermans?

Might I suggest leg extensions from your hands and knees. Excellent for the gluteus medius. If you have lower back discomfort this is one of the best exercises ever. I'm no chiropractor just an LMT.

Yes supermans. I'm starting with just lifting my top half. I don't know what it's called in English but there's a yoga thingamajig that starts that way.

I have a plan. Much to no ones surprise, I have overthought this. I figure planks are a step toward push-ups. Partial supermans are a step toward supermans. That exercises my core, my arms and my back which biking and walking do not. This way, I can sneak little bits of strength in before my RA catches on to the fact that I'm actually exercising and decides to flare on me.

Muahahahaha! :P

Seriously I am learning to go much slower than I'd like but it's better than doing nothing due to a flare.

I will def try leg extensions now that you mention it. I feel some ab exercises coming on too. Slowly, slowly.

Great day today! Completed 4.45 miles including a .60 mile walk with my wife. .60 miles isn't much but we have a pretty good hill in our neighborhood so walking up a hill for her still wears her out. I am proud of her, she will get stronger. She is only 5 weeks post op. We are talking about working on training for a 5K next year...walking it because she can't run very well due to her back.

So...my total as of now is 13.30 miles to date.

4 miles yesterday, total of 14.21. Today is surgery day, so for the rest of the month I need to get 9 miles... Strange to think I will slow down so much... Wish me luck, I'll check in later. Surgery is not until 3 mst, so it will be late or tomorrow...=)

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
