So many mixed emotions

Recommended Posts

I've been patiently waiting since June for my surgery date, and as I wait for the surgeon to call me and finally give the date I can't help but have all these mixed emotions. This is something I have wanted and needed for a long time. I have done so much research and have followed so many stories on here that I feel more ready than I will ever be. It just seems so surreal that its all so close. I keep wondering "will I be the same, how will I look slim, how will my kids see me, how will I view the world" the list goes on... I just keep telling myself to stop, live for today, and go with the flow. Enjoying life is all I want to do. Please do tell me someone out there has had these same feelings...

Me ,me! I have my date now. But I waited from June until a few weeks ago. My date is November 19th. Tonight, I am really nervous and scared about all the details and the recovery. I just got home from my 4 hour post op prep class. Hang in there!

Thanks for sharing. It's good to hear that I'm not alone. The mind is the most powerful thing we have and I use that to my advantage. I just keep telling myself everything will be ok. Best of luck to you

I've been feeling the same way! I started my journey in February and was so excited about it, and now my surgery is in a week and I'm a little scared. I just realize that everything is really going to change and that makes me nervous, but I realize it's all going to be for the better!

I researched this surgery for over 2 years. Finally I made the decision to do it. Had my surgery Aug. 14. Best decision I have ever made for myself and my health. I am a slow loser, only down 31 pounds on just over 2 months. But it's coming along and I am feeling better every day. It's such a great feeling to see the scale moving down instead of up! And it's just the beginning. Good luck with your journey!!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
