Question. My body is my canvas and I am covered in tattoos. I've decided to wait till my surgery to get a bunch more but I was wondering if the tattoos I do have will look the same after the weight loss? Anyone?

missybean

so your body is a canvas huh -_-

my daughter had the "little mermaid" tattooed on her butttt 10 years ago

she gained some weight - and the mermaid spppread

when you lose weight, since your body is all of a sudden smaller - i would think the tattoo must look smaller

proportional to the area (i think thats right)

they will still look great :)

i treated myself to my 1rst and last tattoo when i reached goal

promised DH I wouldn't get another tattoo for the next 58 years

small red heart under each letter :)

happy tattooing

good luck with WLS

speedy recovery

I held off on a tattoo I wanted until after my surgery. Only 8 days post op so still don't have it. But, your skin will shrink so the tattoos will also move around, but probably only by very minor amounts on the parts without a lot of fat. Anything on your stomach will probably look a lot different, but nothing a really talented tattoo artist couldn't work on to modify or touch up.

I am more concerned about my tattoos if I have plastic surgery. I have a feeling one in particular will get cut. :-(

I am 9 months post op and have lost 140lbs so far. I have to say all my tattoos have held up pretty good. But I dont have any in areas common for loose skin like my upper arms, stomach, or thighs.

I have a half sleeve one my right are and a qourter sleeve on my right arm then a dragon and dagger on my right caf. All of them have held up.

Here are some pictures. in the first one you can see my qourter sleeve and in the seconf my half sleeve that will be a full sleeve once I hit my goal (20 more pounds).

Thanks for all the feed back. My bmi is 42 and I would love to lose 130 lbs, but anything will be great and satisfying at this point. Thanks for sharing Kathy. The tattoo sounds really cute. I'm also glad to hear from everyone else about the tats because I have some pretty detailed work especially the two portraits of my children, I'd hate for them to change but as mentioned I have an amazing artist so I'm sure he will be able to work with what is done lol. And you sir look soooo amazing! Job well done!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
