Atlantared, your EGD is soon? That's what makes me nervous...the thought if drinking that barium makes me gag already!!!

Let me know how it goes.

Hopefully in 2 weeks or so! I'm ok with the barium as long as it comes back clear!

It will, think positively Atlanta. Do you have horrible reflux?

I've only been on meds for reflux since June 2012 after I had my gallbladder removed. I had "spitting up" issues randomly before that. Surgeon said it could be a hiatal hernia which he would fix at the time of surgery if I did. I've just seen where some say they had ulcers that they were unaware of and needed bypass instead. I am soooo not okay with having a bypass!

I'm not dwelling, though. Wishful thinking going into it!

I got my date last week - December 2nd! I could have done it a week earlier, but figured I would wait and not put my family out for Thanksgiving! Plus it's easier to miss a little work in December. I'm excited and scared all at the same time. My insurance won't pay a dime on this so it is self-pay all the way. If my hubby hadn't told me out of the blue one day that we could cover it I would never have considered shelling out the moolah! But I really want to do this and to get healthy. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last year and haven't been able to lose and I have struggled with it all my life! Also have high bp and sleep apnea. Ugh! I'm so sick of being sick!

I'm self pay and also decided to wait until after Thanksgiving as I recover poorly and I cook the dinner, so I at least wanted to be happy about cooking it for everyone!

Hello!

I am hoping for a date the first week of December. My surgery center is calling me on Wednesday to officially schedule, when I talked to them last week they had not maxed out November yet. I am thinking it would be nice to be able to have thanksgiving with my family and have the surgery in December. This also doesn't interrupt holiday scheduling at my job, so others wouldn't have to cover me and sacrifice time with their families. It feels so far away, but I started this journey in July and I can't believe it's almost November. I was really hoping to have this done in September, but some of my pre-op dates couldn't be done until Mid September. I am looking forward to getting a date and going on this journey with other December sleevers, I need all of the inspiration and motivation I can find! Good luck to everyone :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
