Hi footballmom! It is normal to feel nervous, but please don't be scared-you will do just fine! What exactly are you scared of? Best of luck on 3/5. Gigi

Hello...

Know that we're both in the same place and I'm walking with you. I've yet to receive my surgery date, but know that I'm at the same point and needing the same support. Sending all good things your way. Peace and positive emotions. On to better health...

My surgery date is 3/12 and I am nervous too. I just went to see my PCP on Friday to talk to her about it and get some copies of my bloodwork that Dr. Spivak wants. The fact that my PCP was so supportive really helped.

What exactly are you scared of??

I'm right there with you - my surgery is March 6th. Right now I'm just focusing on getting through the liquid diet pre-surgery. I think I'm really going to freak out the day before, your surgery day! Best of luck to you!!!

Thanks to all of you who responded. This is my first time on a talk forum and it is well worth it. Knowing that there are people out there willing to listen to me feels terrific. It is so hard to talk to someone who hasn't had the surgery because all they do is ask questions that I have no answers for.

Good luck I had my surgery on 2/22 and almost chickened out didn't get much sleep the night before the morning I went I had to leave at 5 in the morning it was foggy and eerrie I was telling myself it was a sign that I shouldn't go which everything that happened to me in the 2 weeks before that was a sign that I shouldn't do it but my boyfriend was very supportive and he kept reassuring me I could do it. Well I wish when I woke up in recovery I felt all warm and fuzzy I didn't but as each day goes by I am so glad that I didn't change my mind, I have been on this web site everyday because I learn something new everyday and every question I have there is someone who has the answer and people who have helped me keep positive, its always scary making changes in our lives but this is one for your health and that can't be scary being 85lbs over weight is what is scary. What is scary is losing your best friend food, I have laid around the house all day today one of those feel sorry for myself days which everyone needs now and then but at least I didn't empty out the pantry eating crap all day is what I would of done in the past.

Hi Newbies! I'm new myself and having surgery on March 19th. It looks like many of you are having surgery in March so I wanted to tell you about a thread in the General Lap-Band Forum called "March 2007 Bandsters." Several people on that thread have had surgery in the last few days and others are coming up this week. It's been SO helpful to hear from people as they go to surgery and again as they report day to day during recovery. Also, it's fun to see who else is having surgery the same day as you and where their surgery is. FYI! Just thought you might like to join us! :myscared:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
