Need some help with what & how much to eat

Recommended Posts

I'm 16 days out, and I'm very confused.

At this point I'm supposed to eat 2 meals of shakes and 1 soft meal for weeks 3 & 4.

The soft meal should be 3 oz containing 20 gms of Protein.< /p>

On day 15 I had tuna which was easy because 3 oz contains roughly 20 gms.

My guidebook had an example of a good meal ... 2 eggs with 1 slice of cheese, which equals 20 grams. But it came to 6 oz, so I only ate 1/2 of it.

What I dont understand is how to get 20 gms in only 3 oz.

Am I missing something here?

I started adding Beneprotein to my food n some drinks to increase the amt of Protein.< /p>

In those early phases I found it was easiest to use canned meats to get what I needed. You said about tuna, I also used the canned chicken, and underwood deviled ham were a couple good examples. Also Hormel Turkey chili was a good one. Good Luck.

My guidebook has some info that just doesn't add up, too. eggs actually count as full liquids on some menus. The idea is to get the Protein in, so the whole thing would be 18 grams, 6 for each egg and 6 for the cheese. East as much as comfortably fills you. The ultimate goal is retraining in handling "real" food, right?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
