2 week for fills to kick in theory???

Recommended Posts

I know it has been said here and there, but I was just wondering how long it took for you to feel your fill or if you felt it right away.

I was filled 9 days ago and feel it more these last couple of days.

Anyone know why it takes 2 weeks to feel it?

Thanks,Audree

I had a fill on Feb 6th and I felt it right away. Problem was that I really did not feel full after eating. I could tell when I eat too fast or did not chew(got the slime and the pb) but the food volume did not cause me to quit eating any sooner than before. I've been eating around 1200 calories/day and it seems my metabolism has slowed to where I don't lose any weight. I'm now going to the gym twice a day for about 90 minutes total and the scale is just starting to move. But I've been plateaued for about four weeks. Dr. says to come back in two months but I'm tempted to get another one sooner.

That two week thing is a complete mystery to me....my fills are always immediately apparent - Although I do have fluctuation in restriction due to other factors...

1) stress

2) air travel

3) monthlies

Basically anything that can cause you to be bloated will affect the level of restriction that you have.

It may just be that you don't have perfect restriction yet - and when you get stressed, or whatever, you feel it. If it is stress, or bloating for any reason, it will go away again.

I know that I have had 6-7 fills and I still need another one. Especially with the Vanguard band - but generally with all of them, it can take a while to get it right.

Good Luck! And if your restriction isn't great or perfect at week 3 or 4 after your fill - get another one.

Hugs!

My doctor always tells me that if I don't feel it right away to call and come back in right away. I had my 3rd fill on Monday, and by Tuesday I had called to schedule another fill because I didn't really feel any different. But, by Thursday I started to feel tighter. It's so weird, and it's so hard to tell while I am getting the fill if it is the right amount or not. He always has me drink Water to see if it backs up at all, and if it does, he takes some back out. Still, I never know if it's enough. I am supposed to go back on Tuesday, but I'm not sure I am going to need it now. But who knows, by then, I may feel loose again! It is definately a mystery!

Thanks for the replies!

I am feeling more restriction and couldn't eat today due to stress. I felt like my stomach was being squeezed! It felt so weird but I notice it happens each time I stress out. Like a cramp.

I am definitely eating less, feeling fuller faster and staying full.

I LOVE IT!

My fills always take 3 weeks or more to make themselves fully felt. My theory on that is that our stomach tissue reacts to the increased pressure of the band by thinning out, making the stoma essentially the same as it was before the fill. Over time--two days, two weeks, it's different for everyone--the stomach tissue returns to its normal thickness and voila! Restriction.

It seems very unwise to me for a doctor to tell someone they need more fill after only a few days. Hasn't he discovered that for many people that will result in a too-tight band?

That sounds like a really good explanation.

Thanks!:clap2:

Doesnt work that way for me. Every fill I've had I have 2 great weeks, lost a lot of weight and then it goes back to how it was before.

Just wondered if we had any other theories on this one?

I got filled about a week ago, had really good restriction, now I am right before TOM and feel less restriction.

Thanks for your replies!!!

I had a fill.....seems to be less restriction after the fill!?!? I've scheduled the second fill for next week! Looking forward to feeling full again!

I just had my 6th fill and finally feel like I have the restriction I'm supposed to have - and this time it took about 3 weeks for the full effects of the fill to be felt. This didn't happen on my first five fills. With my first five fills it was still a struggle to limit the quantity of food I was eating - I was still physically able to eat a large amount if I wanted to. Now, I physically cannot eat that much.

im hoping things will be different now. I just got a significant fill..then TOM RIGHT after. tighter than Beans right now, but i can feel it start to relax a little, which is good. I just dont want to gain again.

im almost convinced my surgeon has a remote control, and pushes the button randomly. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
