I am 5' 10" and am shooting for 170. I lost a lot of weight 10 years ago and got down to 155, my high school weight. Looking at pictures now, I was too thin. I think that as you age (I am 45 now), being too thin can make you look gaunt and older as you lose the softness in your cheeks. In any case, anything is better that 314 pounds!

5'10" and my goal is 175#. I think that will look good and still give me some curves.

I'm 5'9" and I had set my 1st personal goal at 220lbs and my second at 170, but am flexible. The nutritionist set my weight for 177 lbs but measured me at 5'8" for some reason but I know that's wrong. I plan on seeing how I feel as I get to each weight. I have yo-yoed through the years and blew UP once I started nursing school and never went back. I've seen myself at a lot of weights and hope I don't go into/below 160s. For my frame it's a bit thin and my hip bones start sticking out and people started questioning what was up (people don't know if they want you fat or thin). Everyones version of thin is relative and my boy also doesn't care for it. I guess I'll see what happens {)i(} Sent from my iPhone using VST {)i(}

Wanted to update my Glamazon girls!! I'm 2lbs away from my 1st goal of 220 and feeling great! I'm still 5'9" (I was 5'10" since high school) but next time I go to the doc, I'm going to have them do it again. Although people calling me "skinny" I think is ridiculous. I'm trying to adjust to the change in how people treat you (it's very strange sometimes) and I don't like people commenting on my body or looking me up and down. I just want them to accept that I'm different now (this is the people that have known me for the past 6-7 years because to the people that have known me for a long time the fat me was abnormal). I'm going to be leaving my job in a few weeks and moving to a different area in May which was always the plan anyway in to be near my love, advance as far as my career, and hopefully start a family next year :)

I am 5'10 (30 years old) and shooting for about 140s. SW 280. Its a lofty goal but I won't to be on the lighter side of my range just to give myself a buffer in case a few lbs get added back on a few years out. I have never been under 200 my adult life in fact I think I first weighed in at 200 in middle school so I am not even sure what it would be like for me to be in the 100s. I guess if I look like Skeletor at 150 I will feel comfortable with that but only time will tell. Great post by the way!

Hey ladies!

Forgot all about this thread! Everyone is looking and doing great! I'm in a funk of a mood today, so I'm about to slightly hijack this thread. In need of some gals like me to weigh in... I promise, I'll revert back to our regularly scheduled show after this tangent :)

I'm about 20 pounds from goal of 165 (5'10). I've upped my calories to about 1,250/day (gradually did this over a 2-3 month period). Curious, how many calories is everyone else getting in while still trying to lose? I'm still losing about a pound a week, but am nervous I may have jumped the gun on increasing calories. I've developed a love for lifting heavy weights (feels so strange that I just typed that LOL), so I know I need some fuel to get me through my workouts without going down!

When I started this journey I told myself I would stop when I got to a size 10. Welp, I'm officially here (rocking some new Ann Taylor size 10 slacks today YAY) but I'm still not happy to be honest. Recently I've been struggling with accepting/dealing with what I've done to my body as a result of getting so heavy (wonky skin, lower stomach that could scare the boogie man, inner thigh horror, etc.). In clothes I'm fairly happy, but GOD FORBID I catch a glimpse of myself after just getting out of the shower or otherwise naked. Anxiety, tears, dozens of texts to my mom, etc. ensues (I'm so totally dramatic, I know). Anyone else struggle with this? I try to remind myself everyday that this is a marathon and not a sprint, but hot damn this is getting exhausting LOL!

SW: 288

CW (in picture): 187

GW: 165

I think it depends on how you feel as you go. We all carry weight different on our frame too and we could all weigh the same but look different. I have extra long legs and tend to look smaller than I weigh. I think you look AMAZING now. People are telling you that because they're used to you being bigger as well. Good luck on your continued journey :)

I am 5'8" and I am 175. My surgeon would have been happy with 200. I was 310. I look good but also have a body that has given birth 3 times. I am about a size 12 to 14. I will be staying here. My face looks good. I was this weight when I got married in 1991. Welcome back me!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
