Today is post op day 8 and I am down 22 lbs. Why are my pants still tight as when I started this journey at 267 lbs?

I left the hospital larger than when I arrived (I think it's from the gas they inject in the belly).........that took some time to go down.......can't remember how long......Good luck!

Because you are still retaining Fluid and swelling from the surgery. Give it another week and u will be amazed.

I once lost 60 pounds and it was 50 pounds before I could change pants size! It was disheartening. However, you don't know where that 20+ pounds came from. It could have been spread out evenly or been more concentrated on top. If you haven't already, you can take all of your measurements and start keeping track. Then you'll know where the pounds came from.

The same thing happened to me (except it took me a full month to lose -25lbs) holy cow, 22lbs in 8 days? WOW! Anyway, I think for my situation I must have been 'stuffing' myself into my clothing. They say that every 10lbs is a size, but I found when I was morbidly obese that it was really more like 40-50lbs in between sizes (like AtlantaRed said). The 10lb "rule" doesn't come into play until you are much smaller.

Just keep working on it and things will eventually begin to fall right off your new smaller body!

I feel your pain!! I'm down 24lbs and still wearing all the same clothes. I took my measurements though and unfortunately most of my weight has come from my boobs and face haha So no new pants for me for a while :(

I feel your pain too! I'm down almost 20 pounds since surgery but my belly is still swollen. I have been totally frustrated that my pants aren't looser, but I can tell that the weight has come off my upper thighs and shoulders/arms. Someone said they could tell in my face, but I still see my double chin! LOL If there's one place I want to lose weight, it's my fat belly, so of course it isn't coming off there yet. I bet it will be another 40 pounds before I'll be forced switch pants size, but that isn't stopping me from trying on my smaller pants once per week. Hang in there, it will happen!

Yep, same thing with me! I am 15 days post op, and I was hoping that my tight 22 would at least not be so tight, but no luck! I am down 25 pounds, and my tops are getting big, but pants.....nada!

Also, if someone could tell me how to work this "ticker" I would appreciate it!

Don't know how to make the weight go down! Thanks!

I was down 40 pounds before I was able to change sizes. Then I was changing every couple weeks. Crazy.

My doc said we lose in our legs and upper body first. I'm noticing just that. The back of my legs in my pants are loser. My hips too, just the waste where the buttons are....not enough for me. I keep telling myself....it will come. :-). Stay positive!

I hope this is how it goes for me! I have all my smaller pants ready - I could probably wait for 100 pounds off before I actually "need" to buy clothes. :)

I was in the same boat. I didn't drop a size until around 30 or more lbs. I think I was just stuffing myself into my size 20 pants!

I was a total sausage! I am in smaller pants now, but the jeans I'm wearing today fit when I was 20 lbs heavier and are just feeling loose now. I figure my hubbie will say something about it next weekend. These are my favorite boyfriend jeans by Tommy Holfiger. Go figure they don't make this cut anymore. Next....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
