Maybe Thyroid Level is why I CAN'T get to goal! Progression Pics.

Recommended Posts

Back in 2008 I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. I had to have my thyroid ablated (RAI) radiation and had it killed off. So now I have a dead gland in my neck. I was 245 pounds then. After the radiation, I gained another 50 pounds which put me at my higest weight of 295 -299. I started on meds and my weight gain leveled off but I couldn't lose. So that is when I decided to have surgery. Anyway, my meds have been adjusted down 3 times since being sleeved and as I've lost weight. Just got my labs back and I'm hypothyroid again so I need to go back up on my meds a bit. I haven't lost any weight in 6 months really.Nothing has worked. My hair is still falling out and I've been an emotional wreck! I sure hope this helps me. I'm praying this adjustment on my medication will get my weight loss started again! Very hopeful! I want to be at 150! I decided to take some pics yesterday just to remind myself of where I've come from. At least, I haven't been gaining to much. Well, I did gain 7 pounds and lose two. I really think this is the reason. I pray that it is! Starting on new meds tomorrow. :)

Boy, thyroids are a headache, aren't they? My poor girlfriend has gone through the same thing. She eats like a bird, exercises and doesn't lose a pound! She even went to heart hospital because her resting heart rate was so high they thought she was having heart attack or blockage. Come to find out her thyroid was AGAIN messed up!

Praying you get your meds straightened out and start losing. Keep your NON double chin up!!!

Have you tried going gluten free? Graves is an autoimmune disorder and a lot of research I've been reading lately shows that autoimmune thyroid disorders can be helped by going gluten free. A good book to read is "Stop the Thyroid Madness."

You look great. But your symptoms of no weight loss, depression, and hair falling are all so typical of hypothyroid that I hope they all get addressed with the new doses.

No help from me on the hypothyroidism (other than to say I commiserate after watching my Mom on Synthroid for the last 30 years).

But wow, you look like a completely different (and much younger) person! You go girl!

I felt better with extra Cytomel (T-3)

I started seeing an acupuncturist that has a lot of experience with Hashimotos. He's guiding me through tests and put me on cytomel (T3). I have felt a little bit better since starting it. I just had another test to see if it should be increased. I'm currently on 137mg Synthroid. Quite a few people are starting to believe that Hashimotos is caused (or exacerbated) by issues in the digestive system. I'm still doing my research to see what works best for me. I'm seeing my endocrinologist on Monday and that should be an interesting visit.

Thank you everyone! I don't have a thyroid. It was ablated with radiation. I'm currently now on 125 from 112. I was on 125 before but it made me hyper. So we will see if I get hyper again. I hope not!! I hate that feeling. I wish there was a dose between. But there isn't. I hope this increase helps! :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
