How many days before Mushies...

Recommended Posts

my doc said two weeks of Clear Liquids, but i couldnt stand it. on the one week mark, i ate a piece of baked fish with no problems. i just chewed it until it swallowed itself. I've also had creamy liquids and a little homemade lowfat Sugar Free Chocolate ice cream. but i felt great after two day and only took pain meds for one day. i was determined to get over the surgery and get on with my life. i'm still not straining myself much just to be safe.

I was never put on clear liquids specifically. For 10 days post-op I was told to have broths, Protein Shakes and yogurt. Beyond 10 days post op my nutritionist let me add in things like scrambled eggs (soft), oatmeal and cottage cheese. 6 weeks I can get back into the "normal" stuff....can't wait for that!

Everyone is different in what they can tolerate. I had strictly liquids for the first week and now that the stomach around band is healing I am able to tolerate anything I can puree in my mouth. I prefer to start with Protein and yes, nothing to drink for an hour after you eat. This is the hardest thing for me to do but it is necessary to acheive my goal. Good luck

I got banded last Friday the 30th and I thought I had it rough being on liquids for a week. It is only Monday and I am STARVING. I got on here to find out if anyone had any other opinions on the liquid diet?! Im gonna go crazy. I bought popsicles today, but I am not sure that will be enough! Any suggestions? I am listening!!!

Kathy, you should always consult with your doctor. However, My doctor said I could have anything that fit throug a straw. Creamy Soup was the first thing that kept me full. It is milk based so it helps with the Protein and keeps you full. I also ate a ton of Jello and Protein Shakes.< /p>

My doctor recommends purees (protein only) starting Day 3, and for 2 weeks. After that, things advance from soft to solid (still only protein) pretty quickly. In Week 4, if memory serves, nonstarchy veggies are added, and soon after, a fruit or legume serving/day is added. Other complex carbs (grains, starchy veggies) are not added back in until at least 75% of excess weight is lost--if then.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
