Hi all. I had my lapband surgery at the end of July and have been doing great since then. I've lost 40 lbs so far.

But this past week we have been moving to a new place and my schedule has been all crazy. I've noticed myself snacking here and there, when I wasn't before, haven't been drinking my Water very good, didn't track my calories, and have also been doing some late night snacking on Halloween candy. I'm back on track today but then when I weighed this morning to see the damage I had done over the past week, I was up 4 lbs! Granted I feel like some of that is probably Water, but I still feel so down on myself.

This is the first "slip up" I've had since getting my surgery and I'm feeling like a failure. I'm back doing well again today, but it was hard to see myself gain and even more-so, it's harder knowing I let myself slip like that again. What was I thinking? Just when I think I have learned better, those old demons wanna creep in.

Anyway.. just needed to get that off my chest. And now I have to let it go and move forward. Just goes to show how much this weight loss journey is "mental" as well as physical. Thanks for listening.

You are so right the band is a big help, but the mental struggles we face are tough ones to over come. Set myself up today by bringing in some vegie chips from my son's birthday party yesterday! Baaad. I should just eat the salad I put away..but no snacking on the vegie chips!

A few weeks ago I was caught up eating between meals. I made a conscious decision that that behavior was gonna stop and it did. Four pounds is not that bad. Kudos for catching it and changing the bad behavior. We are not and will never be perfect. Cut yourself some slack and learn from it.

I too had my surgery in late July. I have found myself wanting to snack late evening which is really bad. I have also found that overeating is sooo much mental. Weight loss is a journey up and down hill and the band I found helps but it is not a miracle cure!

It sounds to me that you are on top of things, and back on track. Just think of all the weight you have lost, you have done brilliantly. This is a temporary little hitch, don't beat yourself up. Moving can be very stressful, you will be back into your routine before you know it. Good Luck :D

Not so glum chum! I've been there...heck, I'm there right now - LOL. The good news is that all you have to do is draw that line in the sand (sounds like you're doing that now), talk to others (preferably a counselor) and get back on track. The great news is that unlike your pre-band days, whatever weight you gain now comes back off quickly. Shock your system with heavy doses of Protein (80 - 100g a day) for about a week and you'll see. Sure, your loved ones won't like the butt music you're making or the aroma you leave behind...but you're worth it!

Everyone gets in a rut once in a while. Don't beat yourself up about it. You found the problem and solved it.

Don't feel bad - I think it happens to all of us! I still get those evil cravings at times! I notice it the most when I'm stressed & it sounds as though you've been very stressed! I used to just eat to make myself feel better, but if I'm hungry now I try to eat some green Beans or something. I put some salt & pepper on them and I don't use a fork (lol). They are like 40 calories for a cup so I'm not doing any damage and I stop when I'm full! I'm just weird but it helps me.

I have found the small cottage cheese with fruit added is a great snack. 100 calories plus I add some fat free cheese. Works for me!

Unfortunately, yes. Farts are a big part of banded life...protein makes it worse.

I'm trying really hard not to beat myself up over the same kind of slip up last week, so you're not allowed to, either!! I think we're all going to have them every so often. Everyone, banded or otherwise, have weeks where they just plain eat like crap. I think it's really just a normal part of life in general. We just have to make sure we don't let those slips happen too often, and that we get our heads back on straight and get back on track after an off week!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
