1. Thank you all. Ive never lost over 30 pounds before my lap band so this feels so good.
2. Finally hit that 50 pound mark this morning! I had my lap band surgery at the end of July. Thought I would share my first set of progress pics. Can you tell a difference? I still have lots to lose, but happy about this start. (And sorry in advance, not brave enough yet to share full body with face.)
3. I am so angry at myself. I've falling into the same "holiday pattern" that I do every year. People are constantly dropping off snacks at my desk at work, and my family is making sweet treats out the WahZoo. And pretty much since Thanksgiving I've been having a treat here or there and it has really stalled my weight loss. I'm sooooooooooo close to being at the 50 lb loss mark.. like 3 lbs. But for some reason I keep justifying "just one more bite" of fudge, etc. Anyone else having trouble? Got any good tips?
4. Hi all. I had my lapband surgery at the end of July and have been doing great since then. I've lost 40 lbs so far. But this past week we have been moving to a new place and my schedule has been all crazy. I've noticed myself snacking here and there, when I wasn't before, haven't been drinking my Water very good, didn't track my calories, and have also been doing some late night snacking on Halloween candy. I'm back on track today but then when I weighed this morning to see the damage I had done over the past week, I was up 4 lbs! Granted I feel like some of that is probably water, but I still feel so down on myself. This is the first "slip up" I've had since getting my surgery and I'm feeling like a failure. I'm back doing well again today, but it was hard to see myself gain and even more-so, it's harder knowing I let myself slip like that again. What was I thinking? Just when I think I have learned better, those old demons wanna creep in. Anyway.. just needed to get that off my chest. And now I have to let it go and move forward. Just goes to show how much this weight loss journey is "mental" as well as physical. Thanks for listening.
5. I've noticed when my Protein is higher I tend to lose a bit more on the week. But I'm not sure exactly how much I should be aiming for for weight loss. I'm 5'7 and 289 if that matters. Anyone got a general rule of thumb?
6. Thanks guys for reminding me what's important. This is a journey... not a race, right? I needed that reminder.
7. I've lost about 20 lbs since surgery on July 24th. But the last 2 to 2 1/2 weeks I've lost nothing. I track calories and keep them under 1200. I had my first fill last week and to be honest I didn't notice much of a difference. Anyone go through something like this? Scared to be hitting a block this soon since I still have 100 to lose :/
8. This is day 3 post op for me. Only had liquids so far and I sip very slow. I've noticed I'm burping a lot though. Is this normal? I have had a ton of gas pain but it is starting to get better.
9. Good to hear other pple went through the same things. I had heard all about the gas but for some reason the swelling I had forgot about. I will let you know how it goes the nexr few days
10. This is what my tummy looks like. Surgery just about 10 hrs ago.
11. Congrats. I was bandes today too. Feeling swollen and woozy. How about u?
12. Good luck to you! Can't wait to hear all about it.
13. Everything went well and as planned. I've felt woozy and sleepy all day. My tummy feels sore and holy swelling batman! Walking, using the sprirometer and sipping on ice chips and Water. Kinda got a headache. But overall went well. Did a any of you have swollen tummies?
14. Thank you for all your encouraging responses. I had a good cry or 2 today and tried to get some of that fear out of my system. Surgery is in just a few hours at this point, bright and early at 6 AM. I can't wait to tell you all how itn went. And most of all, I can't wait to meet then woman I will become through this journey. To my praying friends, be sure to send one for me. Night all!
15. I guess we both have to hang in there. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way.
16. I'm not nervous about the lapband itself... I'm as ready for it as I can be. Of all things, I'm nervous about being put to sleep. I have this crazy fear of not waking up. And the thought of not seeing my girls again is haunting me. I think I've watched too much Grey's Anatomy. lol Did anyone else have a similar fear? I know the lap band is the right decision for me.. just that fear of being put to sleep keeps creeping in my head :/
17. Way to go. I know how you feel about the waiting game. My consult is the 11th and it seems like an eternity. I'm just SOO ready.
18. This is all great advice! Thank you for taking the time to respond. I cannot wait to start this transformation. I feel like there is a healthy girl inside dying to get out, and I know this is the tool I need
19. Oh! And any pre-op advice would be greatly appreciated. I've read about the Gas strips already
20. So I've been lurking for a while & thought I would say "hi" today. I have my lap band consult scheduled for 9 days, 23 hours and 40 minutes from now. lol (Yes, I'm excited.) I finally got the financing on track, which was a huge, emotional roller coaster. I've picked a doctor, and now I just can't wait to get the ball rolling so to speak. I'm so ready to start this next chapter of my life, and for the first time in a long time, actually feel good again. I'm so tired & low energy all the time. I've got so many blessings, a great husband, 2 beautiful toddlers... now I just need to fix myself. I'm most excited about getting healthy and feeling fully present in my own life! I just can't wait. I love reading all of your stories and successes. They make me feel like I have a shot, too. Anyway... Hi all! Can't wait to be a bandster.
